Yup. Antivaxxers will fuck up our progress.

Yep and we will all be back to square one once mutations start taking over. We will never get over the pandemic. Never, thanks to stupid and selfish people.

Regardless of the stupid people, itll likely pass within a few years. The Spanish flu pandemic was considerably more deadly than covid, and that lasted for 2 years without an vaccination.

Just sucks that people cant all get onboard with what the medical community agrees with and place their faith in conspiracy theorists.

People were also much more willing to comply with strict lockdowns then. Now we have people plotting to kidnap and murder Governors who enforced lockdowns.

idk, isn't there generally an inverse relationship between how deadly a virus is and how easily it can spread? If it kills you, it can't spread to another host. Coronavirus might be around for quite a while.

Kind of but not really. Covid-19 has a long incubation period in which your contagious but not symptomatic, and a high asymptomatic spreader rate. One wonders what would happen if there were a more deadly disease with similar presentation.

The US is still vaccinating around 3 million people per day. Obviously demand is going to fall when a third of the country is already fully vaccinated, not sure what point you're making there.

it dropped from over 3m to 2.5mil, and red states/rural areas have low numbers of vaccinations. Minority areas also have low numbers. The shift is now how to get people to get vaccinated rather than getting supply, otherwise we won't achieve herd immunity. Also people are skipping their 2nd shots.

First of all, a significant proportion of the U.S. population an estimated 34% already has some immunity to the virus from having been exposed to the virus. Secondly and most importantly the vaccination campaign has now inoculated a significant number of people. More than 43% of the population has now gotten at least one shot, and a third are fully vaccinated. That's getting very close to where other countries, such as Israel, started to turn the corner and experience a precipitous drop in infections.

The combination of natural immunity from people who were exposed and vaccination "means we may be closer to 60% population immunity already," Jha says. "That's why I'm pretty confident we have turned the corner."

I have no idea why people are so disappointed that the pandemic is ending in the US.

You can't take your foot off the gas until you take the checkered flag. We still need a lot more vaccines in a lot more arms and we should be mandating it. You don't want to get into a "resurrected measles" situation.

I'm not a nihilist. I think this life is the only thing that matters. I feel like I value other people's lives a lot more than the average selfish jackoff. I'll "stop" when there aren't people getting fucked over in this world.

Why would you value people that purposely get the virus? You know that people that get the virus are the anti vaxxers right? They're the ones that don't mask up or get the vaccine or purposely go out without any cares. That's how most people get covid....obviously. So why would you care about those people if they don't care about themselves?

That was because people had no idea how to handle pandemic, they were dumb af. And Spanish flu wasn't more deadly, it just killed more because they had nowhere near the resources we do, covid is more infectious AND deadly than the flu.

Just pay people to take the vaccine, and pay people who already took it as well. Hell that can be your starting point for the 4th stimulus check. People who haven't taken it due to fear of potential side effects down the line would probably take it as their love for money will overtake their love for their own health. Lol
