I was in the Marines. Getting hit in the face definitely makes you focus. Like it STRONGLY makes you focus.

Heck when your out with your friends and you phase out, they'll give you a good snack to make you focus too.

You have a good point though. We should embrace slapping/hitting as a more normal thing in our culture. It's a shame we don't, as a good smack can really make things clear.

Youre right - youre left to learn on your own and what you end up learning because you're that young and caught up in something that you are unaware about means your choices are forever influenced until you can recognize and realize

That being said, while I recognize the psychology of beating someone to your will - I think psychology is severely lacking in incorporating sociology department
