resource officer doing a better job than the cops would have. Didnt need to use force, didnt need to unload a clip, was able to talk him down and no one was hurt. This is just another reason why we need to defund and reallocate money into social programs that can work with the police like this.

school resource officers are cops
Right. And this shows that proper training and assessment of the situation isnt impossible for them. But if they refuse to do it bring in people who will.

Right.
So...he can't have done a better job than the police would have and the rest of your post falls apart too...it seems like you have backed yourself into a corner of having to acknowledge that this is, in fact, a good cop.

Right.

You're assuming that every situation is going to go this way. In another version of this scenario, the officer and/or security guard is the first one shot. The article is vague with details. It only says that shots were fired from a handgun into the ceiling. It doesn't sound like a mass shooting in progress, so there's a good possibility that the person with the gun didn't aim it at anybody at all.

You do know that not all active shooter and hostage situations are the same right? And that not all schools have resource officers right?

Oakland got rid of all of theirs and the teachers don't want to go back.

This is proof that we need more intelligent cops. They literally hire almost any military veteran who applies. Nothing against veterans, but we dont need people who are trained to and are conditioned to kill people. We need people who are calm, non-violent, and smart.

We seriously need to stop having such a militarized police force, in every sense. Get treated like an insurgent over a bag of marijuana with three guns to your back. Thats not what we need and its not what the citizens want.

You do know that not all military personnel have combat related jobs right? Departments hire vets because of the similar structure pd's have to the military, they don't care if you were infantry or a cook. Also what kind of statement is it that vets are not calm, violent and stupid?

That's a regular ass cop aka the overwhelming % cops that share the same values and goals that exist in the US bro

aka not a story that is handpicked by the extreme left media to exploit and sensationalize what's trending and fabricate drama via creating the mirage we call division to get views and brainwash the US population to garner ratings, so the viewer can stay tuned and dialed in with enough patience to not change the channel on the Brawny giant lumberjack, the pharmaceutical generic ED ads and progressive insurance commercials etc. Dangerous ass exploits that encourage anarchy through false pretenses. Yall supposed to be woke but yall sleeping homie jfc

How naive to think these fake ass news media has your best interest at heart. All about the goddammit money man with the fakeass lawyers tryna get settlements from roundup litigation claims. Yall lost. Geico and the fucking mesothelioma pundits be finessin ur asses all the way to the bank.

And Greg oden is a fucking bust

Well its not what I meant. Some vets are fine for the job, but instantly hiring someone just because they have military experience isnt the right way to go.

Then do tell me what you know about the hiring processes and selection of applicants and the background investigations they do on their applicants.

For a lot of departments applicants can substitute their military service for lack of a degree when sending in their applications. That doesn't mean that they'll automatically get hired. In general, departments like people who have a degree, life experience, consistent work history, and a clean background. Being in the military covers two of those things, and most people get their degree while in or already have one prior to serving.
