TLDW: it's a con. McDonald's and the ice cream manufacturer have a deal where franchise owners will pay for repairs, and the ice cream machine maker makes 25% of their revenue from service costs. It's also due to intentionally shitty software, and some guy hacked the machine and made a device that solves the shitty software problem, and mcdonalds corporate told franchisees to stop or they void their warranty.

Fuckin shitty corporate fucks.
