People makign people feel like they are criminals and everything else. It's stupid after a while. Feeling persecuted. Actually being persecuted. It's actual ignorance of what is even going on. or how to deal with it or fit in. And some people really could do things in different ways and they never realize it.

BIlll Belichick. You'd think he isn't a huggable guy. I'm hilarious sometimes. But really how people respect people and everything else. Not everyone here is Bill Belichick but they can become that. He isn't even from here.

A lot of people hate us but when i talk to my friends and people ive met out here people just connect in a way that is very different. That's changed somewhat. Younger people and everything. I don't even hear those same connections. The city i am in lacks that but it has to exist somewhere. IT used to be where you could go to the beach and people were just friendly. Open doors for people. Always say hello etc, etc.. That changed when millennials came into the world. Not in your face or your business either. Just people that know how to connect. Did people just give up on doing that?

It's literally impossible to have intelligent conversations with people these days. It's not a liberal or conservative thing either. Where i grew up was pretty diverse. People just could do that. Even 10 years ago.

THis is what makes no sense about liberals and conservatives either. None of these people have good social skills whatsoever.

Ok so it's not a Millenial thing then? Ten years ago the oldest Millenials were in their late 20s almost 30.

The real cause is Boomers and Gen X with their bullshit partisan politics and tribalism. With us or against us, which was started when Bush became president. It has infected all facets of life and both sides are like that now. You see that all the damn time on this website. Disagree with something the far lefters here like? Well obviously that means you are a far right Trump supporting racist, sexist, every other ist. Disagree with something the far righters here like? Well obviously that means you are a far left America hating cop blaming communist.

This all started before 90% of Millenials could even vote. It's also hilarious to see Boomers and Gen X constantly bitch and moan about Millenials ruining everything considering they are your fucking kids in the first place. Which makes you responsible for how they turned out. Congratulations, you're a shitty parent!

In an actual attempt to answer your question - there's a definite loss of social capital, but that was documented decades ago, before you or I were probably born. There's a good sociology book called "Bowling Alone" about the concept of social capital, and the importance of people being in clubs or groups that allow you to interact with others outside of your immediate friend circle.
I also think that the internet in the last decade has changed a lot of this. Social media back in the day was mostly forums, instant messaging, etc. that promoted two way conversation. The shift probably started slowly back when I was a teen, with blogging and sites like Livejournal, Xanga, Blurty, etc. Nowadays a lot of the formats are quick, limited conversation with Twitter -- or formats that promote one-way conversation, like Instagram and Tik Tok.
I could also tie this into the massive amount of self importance coming from the younger generations nowadays. It's funny to say this, because coming from a punk background I've never been one to care about the concept of celebrity -- but with video sharing sites and the speed of internet trends nowadays, it's easier for "normal" people to become celebrities and heard worldwide. This, along with the social media formats I mentioned that promote one-way conversation - I think people think they're more important than they actually are nowadays. Self importance is also why people are okay with all rampant digital vigilantism -- and why the distinction between online and offline personas has blended in some awkward way that could've never been predicted decades ago.
I think this extra emphasis on self importance along with the even greater decline in the importance of social capital (especially right now amidst the pandemic) all kind of hint towards what you're feeling.

It was Catholic school in the Deep South, during the early 90s.

My parents never signed the paper to let the teachers hit me, but it was fairly common. Bad manners was a quick way to get it.
