While studies earlier in the pandemic pointed to the way unhealthy behaviors like resistance to masks and hand-washing were more common in men in general, this data makes an important distinction: The problem isnt men; its the men committed to a certain performance of masculinity.

Men are more skeptical than women about COVID-19 vaccines and wearing face masks but the real divide is between men who are trying to project masculinity and the men who arent, Fairleigh Dickinson researchers wrote. Men who assert a traditionally masculine gender identity are less likely to say that theyll get the COVID-19 vaccine, more likely to say that it has side effects, more resistant to wearing face masks for protection, and more likely to say they have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The survey also found that men who identify as completely masculine are nearly twice as likely to say wearing masks is dangerous to the health of the wearer and are predictably about three times more likely to report having been infected with the virus.

The men who identify as the most masculine were also more likely to have attended a gathering of more than 10 people or hosted visitors at their residence during the pandemic. Almost half (43 percent) of completely masculine men reported theyve had people over at their home recently; for other men, it was 36 percent (admittedly still not great but better). While we know Covid-19 is the major health threat here, it appears our defunct definition of masculinity is a dangerous precondition for Covid-19 that we should be talking about.

There's a very real chance that you can contract the virus and then spread it to other people, including those much more vulnerable to it. Do you not care that you are putting the people around you at risk?

Nobody knows the long term effects of it and people acting like its fine are doing so under the assumption that it's perfectly safe

I am uncomfortable with putting any medicine in my body, especially one that is this complex.

To say that anyone who doesnt want to have some unknown substance injected into them is selfish is completely disregarding their feelings.

I have all my vaccinations and many others than most dont have because I went overseas

But yes, I try to avoid medicine if at all possible because I watched my father's health decline rapidly until he eventually died at the age of 58 because corrupt doctors overprescribing him

The same people who everyone is so blindly trusting with this vaccine are the same ones responsible for the death of millions of americans each year because they want to greedily stuff their pockets.

I WILL take medicine, but I very rarely do and I dont like to, either.

I am not denying that modern medicine is mostly a good thing and has drastically increased the lifespan of people.

But quit pretending like big pharma is all good and doesnt have a history of lying and extorting desperate people who dont know any better.

The same people who get overprescribed and eventually die from being overprescribed have the same faith in their doctors as you do in this vaccine.

The fact is, you have no idea if this vaccine will eventually kill you in 20 years. Quit pretending like you know because you dont

I watched my father die at 64 with covid. Didn't get to retire. He still loved working and was thinking of starting another business. He loved tending to my cancer stricken mom and playing with my 4 year old niece.

He died on Christmas. Days before he would have been vaccinated. Hell, I got mine two weeks after he died.

Get your darn vaccinations and save your and others' lives. Pride or masculinity be dammed.

There is going to be worldwide of pissed off people if the long term effects turned out not to be worth it, I wish people would think more because this is A EXPERIMENTAL VACCINE, and I also find it concerning the sudden white-washing of the medical industry acting like they always been angels.

We probably won't even get the real deal until a few years later that won't have these issues, but I'm really hoping the pill version coming out of Tel Aviv late this year will end up being a game changer because its supposed to have way less side-effects than the traditional vaccines.

thats just wishful thinking though, your odds are better than some fat dude who doesnt exercise but your absolute risk of covid is still probably worse than the vaccine

I've actually seen this first hand. The other day, I was gonna hang with some people, a girl and a guy, and the guy said he was gonna have his second shot and was hesitant about hanging out. The girl said that she got her second vaccine and was fine and that he's a pussy if he doesn't wanna hang. He changed his mind and decided to hang.

He did seem fine, but it was just weird that he'd consider himself subpar if he felt a side effect from the vaccine cause she put it in his head. If it was me, I'd just be like, ok I'm a pussy I'll see yall when I'm ready to hang.

and I'm saying pushing a experimental vaccine and not knowing the long term consequences is just as equally irresponsible, the fact they tried to make sure they wouldn't get sued should send a red flag to anyone with common sense. Why have an FDA at all if people should just "grow a pair" and take any unapproved drug that big pharma puts out? It has nothing to do with being an anti-vaxxer.
