He got lethal force because he resisted arrest. It still doesn't justify the use, but there is a big difference between a person that willingly surrenders and gets in the car and someone that is drugged out of their mind to the point that they are foaming at their mouth and escapes the car. When you put cops in awkward situations like this awkward stuff happens.

lethal force should be used to stop someone from doing harm to others or in self defense only

Regardless, when you resist arrest you are relying on a poorly trained jarhead that is looking for action after writing traffic tickets all day to exercise the proper continuum force. I don't like those odds. Oh, and by the way, they are going to tack on jail time for you as well? So why would you resist arrest again?

Why wouldn't you do as you are told most of the time? What is the advantage to mouthing off to a cop? From my experience they are pretty douchy, the less I talk and deal with them the better.

Because people are stupid and the cops likely are in some way fearing for their life. There's a lot of dangerous people out there, you don't know who or when they may try and do pull something. That's usually why cops are aggressive.

I can't help but think this is going to go to an appeal and get overturned. Like this was just a set up from publicity? (I'm not hinting at a grand conspiracy but that the jurors were afraid because of the public eye on them) It seems... odd for a cop to get guilty on all counts for this while others get off for more blatant murders.

its not just doing as your told, its doing as your told at the accelerated speed they want and very often total compliance with what is In their minds even if its not vocalized.

look at the soldier who was pepper sprayed and threatened to be tazed just because he slow rolled his vehicle to a Well lit gas station rather than stop on the road in the middle of a dark road and get killed for doing nothing wrong. those cops even threatened him not to tell anyone. What do you think they would do if he was alone in the dark?

not that all cops are bad, or that they are t In a dangerous situation day in day out or that there arent crazies out there too.

but many developed this wall of silence that is still being relied upon but has all of a sudden due to technology (body cams and phones) has been yanked out from under them. Those with bad havits are set in their ways and still act badly and those incidents alter the publics opinion of all cops in a negative light.

for any cop convicted of a crime they should automatically double their sentence due to the added damage they also do to society and the public in tarnishing the reputation of the police force.

Ed209 is still a viable option too. 20 seconds is more than enough to comply with added time for diff situations.

I think the real problem with policing is that more police precincts need to model themselves after the famous Brooklyn 99, which they have an ongoing reality Tv show following the exploits of these model officers.
