Than lovers?

I don't understand it and I personally can react better to positive comments about me than negative.

If 3/4 of people are saying good things about me then why should I give a fuck about the 1/4 who are saying bad things about me? Stop focusing on the hate, focus on the love.

Because people would rather compare themselves to something worse than them in order to feel less bad about themselves, than to just focus on self-improvement.

People essentially enable their own self-destructive tendencies.

It's a long and complicated answer but this is a good start:

I doubt anyone will actually go to the link but in short focusing more on the negative is something we're naturally wired to do.

This makes nearly no sense based on what tc is asking.

TC asks why people generally focus more on negative than positive. And it's because most people inherently look more at other people's flaws, while ignoring their own, because they believe they are good people, and that makes them feel less bad about themselves, their choices, their habits, their opinions, their behaviors, etc.

We are socially conditioned as we age to react more to negativity and destructive tendencies than to positivity and constructive tendencies. Instant gratification plays a huge role in that degeneration. A person would rather pay $20 to have fast food delivered, than to go out and shop, prep and cook their own food. A person will masturbate to anime porn everyday thinking their addiction is perfectly healthy, while scoffing at the mere idea of meditation or yoga.

It makes no sense though and he's making blanket statements with no evidence to back it up.
Typical gamefaqs behavior.

It makes no sense to you because you don't seem to quite have that level of understanding and compassion.

No evidence? Look at the users and topics around the board here. Endless topics every day about things like anime, fast food, rating women off their bodies. There are dedicated topics for MLP, sexy anime girls, cryptocurrency. Barely any fitness topics. No topics about things like meditation, yoga, healthy eating, self-improvement.

Typical gamefaqs behavior indeed.

Because people nowadays love being attacked and getting into fights and arguments. They love watching fights and arguments. They love getting into them. People just want to be angry. They want to be underdogs, or the victims, so that they have an excuse to be angry at something or someone.

Sorry, I deal in science and reality and the posters on here are hardly representative of the general public.
Understand that when you make such blanket statements, especially when they are just factually wrong, you are highlighting your ignorance.

You may mean well and if you truly do, take the time to educate yourself properly on the facts.

While I may very well be generalizing some of my opinions and ideas, that doesn't necessarily mean they are totally right or wrong. It just means that one action will typically lead to a certain set of results. Basic psychology and critical thinking is not hard to learn and understand. If a person is speeding 100 mph on a highway, I can predict that they will most likely get in a crash, or get pulled over by police. If a person masturbates everyday, I can deduce that they have an addiction. If a person has a ton of garbage and discarded food items in their car, I can assume traits about their personality as a reflection of how they treat their car. If a person is fit and goes to the gym several times a week, I can generally tell that they eat well and have established healthy lifestyle choices.

When it comes to you throwing out things like "I believe in science and reality", "they are factually wrong" or "educate yourself properly on the facts". That leads me to believe the exact opposite of what you state, that you don't really understand. You think you do, you want to believe you do, because you think it makes you feel better about yourself, but it doesn't, so you resort to attempting to bring others down because it's easier. The fact that you quoted my post and responded in less than 3 minutes is a dead giveaway that you don't really understand the context of my posts, especially with that snide comment at the end.

Anyways, back to the topic... why do people care to hear more from haters than lovers? Because some people can't help but bathe themselves in their own toxicity and narcissistic behaviors. Our society is full of people like that. Too much of our energy is expelled outward to each other in a negative fashion, instead of being channeled inward with positivity and self-improvement.
