Chile has one of the worlds best vaccination rates. Covid is surging there anyway. Chile has endured a sharp uptick in Covid infections in recent weeks, even with its world-renowned vaccine rollout and strict lockdowns in place. I cannot stress this enough for most countries, vaccines are not going to stop this wave of the pandemic, Carissa Etienne, director of PAHO, said during a weekly press briefing on Wednesday.

All of TC's topics since December have been fearmongering about the vaccine or otherwise shitposting and lying about it.

I know tc's trying to push some bullshit, but I am curious about why this is the case. Even the worst of the available vaccines should keep this from happening. Did they just drop all restrictions as soon as vaccines rolled out?

The goal isn't to reduce infections at this point, it's more about getting everyone vaccinated.

The vaccine's purpose isn't to stop Covid spread, it's to make it so that catching covid wont make you severely ill.

but COVID barely affects 90% of the people who have it so why risk side effects of the vaccine if its going to most likely end up affecting you the same as if you caught the virus

What are the side effects of the vaccine, how often do they occur?

Because the side effects of the vaccine wont kill you, don't linger, and only last a day or two, whereas Covid can be anything from slightly sick one day to being hospitalized and dead.

Also there is no evidence that how your body reacts to the vaccine is how your body would've reacted to covid. That's a big leap to make wrapped up in your question. Otherwise old vaccinated people would be dying left and right. In the older people I know, none of them had side effects, which include my parents, some uncles, and people that work in my building. People around my age have all felt anything from slightly sick to moderately sick. Also it is not guaranteed that you even feel side effects from the vaccine.

A study published by the University of Chile earlier this month reported that CoronaVac was 56.5% effective two weeks after the second doses were administered in the country. Crucially, however, they also reported that one dose was only 3% effective. "This would help to explain why Chile with one of the world's most robust vaccine rollouts but 93% of the doses coming from China has experienced a simultaneous significant expansion in cases, and a much slower decline in hospitalizations and deaths compared to the early rollouts in Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States," Ian Bremmer, president of risk consultancy Eurasia Group, said in a research note.

The problem is fairly obvious.

Shitty vaccine notwithstanding, the argument of vaccine rate vs. covid rate doesn't make sense because there's a large overlap of people that won't take the vaccine with people that also don't take the virus seriously. So you'd actually expect there to be not much difference seeing as anyone getting the vaccine likely took it seriously and wasn't spreading it, whereas people that don't take it seriously are taking it even less seriously now and spreading it even worse than before because they think the introduction of a vaccine = pandemic is over.
