No matter how people feel about it, they should read "Homage to Catalonia" for a very interesting perspective on Communists vs. Anarchists vs. Trotskyists (and...many other factions) in the Spanish Civil War. I never meet people I can talk to about it.

Fun fact: Mao's Great Leap Forward Year 1 was hugely successful and popular even with the workers... it was when the government meddled with the communes that it crashed and burned.

A system in which all forms of higher government are rendered effectively meaningless and all people are forced to rely on small scale local communities is literally a regression to stone age. There's really no way to spin anarcho-communism to make it viable as anything other than a small-scale experiment that cannot last.

It's been shown 200 or less is the ideal amount for a small tribe of people Anything anarcho is inherently a power vacuum. Outside of tiny communities, it is just not a system that is built to last. It's the perfectly natural ideology for small communities though, and I appreciate that anarcho communists still generally respect the idea of individual liberty, something that is in stark contrast to authoritarian communists
