Sony is basically the modern Miramax.

Miramax made moves explicitly to win Oscars. They literally had mathematical formulas they followed to do it - producing shlock like Shakespeare in Love, which is a movie that is near-universally considered mediocre by audiences, but conversely critics adored it, and won SEVEN (!) Oscars.

Naughty Dog's games remind me of that. They're extremely technically impressive, witty and totally competent. Hell, some (like Uncharted 2) really are amazing games. But there's general air of "90s AAA blockbuster" to their design that I find a bit unsettling.

This game had a lot of issues with it. Like some graphical errors, a story that slogged, and Deacon wasnt all that compelling of an MC. Granted, the story was very interesting and if they could improve on some things a sequel could be quite good

So here's the deal - I actually really like Bend Studio (Syphon Filter was great) but they really are a B-tier studio that is in their element making B-tier games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss (which was a great game for a handheld title.)

Metacritic means far too much to many publishers. Just look to the Bethesda/Obsidian incident with New Vegas.

theres no sequel for days gone because nobody wanted it or played the game. Get over it lmao. Clearly nobody cared about the game at launch, just because it got a second wind when it was free and/or heavily discounted doesn't mean sony was wrong

Days Gone was a decent game but it released at a time when people were so tired of "zombie games"

Yeah it had flaws but it was quite fun. Kept me engaged the whole way through.

At first I felt sorry for Bend that their sequel pitch was rejected and key staff left over it.

But now I don't feel sorry for them at all and think Sony made the right call. This guy just sounds like a drama queen.

A decent main character could have been compelling, but when you play as generic white guy #1256 you might as well play the other action adventure games that are better.
