His login details to Google maps history were in the motherboxes. After he fled he had no way to get back so was randomly guessing his own password (turning worlds to dust) until he could find it.

The mother boxes made the boom tubes that he used to get around the universe. They're not just terraforming things. Like, if you take the train everywhere you go but then your metro card expires and you have to drive you won't necessarily know how to get to the same destination.

The "forgetting about Earth" thing is kinda dumb but makes more sense when you consider

A) Apokolips' forces had to make a hasty retreat when the Old Gods started fucking them up.

B) Darkseid was unconscious for the conclusion of the battle and the retreat.

C) The sheer scale of this universe and Darkseid's conquests. Like others ITT said, it'd be like taking a tour of every single island in the pacific ocean and losing your wedding ring on one of them.

If it was just the one ship maybe people would buy it. But we're talking about an entire invading army that had to retreat and completely forgot about where they were retreating from. They didn't even get close in something like 10,000 years as Darkseid gained more and more power? It's not really comparable to a guy losing his wedding ring. That's just one person being careless. This was an entire armada who don't know where they've been or where they're going.

The only reason Steppenwolf went there at all was because a Motherbox got cracked. So if that didn't happen they just never would have ever found Earth again? Speaking of which unless the planet was called something else back then they forgot about the name as well.

It's hard not to see him as inept if the only thing that tracked where he has been is the one thing that needs to leave the ship when he conquers a planet. We don't put sea charts in our wedding rings.

IIRC Darkseid also wasn't the ruler of Apokolips when he invaded Earth originally so it's unlikely he had someone with intelligence like Desaad or Granny Goodness with him.

That means this empire is in the scenario that if Darkseid and his army were wiped out they would have no idea where that happened. If they even found out about it at all.

It's just a bit strange. Hell going by this it's possible that after Steppenwolf's death they still don't know where it is. I don't think that's supposed to be the case though.

Desaad actually was there and he's the only survivor of the 3 sorcerers that were using the motherboxes.

I do think Zack said somewhere that Darkseid wasn't actually Darkseid at that time yet.

I loved how the movie started with a long drawn out scene of Superman screaming in slow motion and how that scream impacted people in slow motion. Then it kept up the pace with a long scene of Bruce climbing a mountain.

Then the movie started to worry me a bit. This scene of people talking was going way too fast. Luckily Mamoa removed his shirt in slow motion and then Lois Lane walked in the rain in slow motion and I felt like I could keep up with the movie again.

He was apparently just Uxas at the time. Basically he hadn't merged with Omega yet.
