I just find it incredible that someone had the idea to hire a comedian who is known for cynical deadpan humor for the dumb video game hype show. What did they expect to happen? Geoff has no banter skills at all and just stumbles when Joel makes fun of him. Joel sometimes makes a joke and quickly apologizes when he realizes the developer took it personally.

On top of that there's sloppy production where Joel and Geoff barely know what they're meant to be talking about.

VGX was produced by Spike TV. Geoff rage quit Spike and started his own show. Spike outright cancelled VGA/X.

And the response adds nothing outside of being pedantic.

It's the same show lead by Keighley on the same time of the year that was rebranded to VGX in 2013 and then left Spike and was rebranded again to the Game Awards.

If the topic title said VGX that would be more confusing to more people since it was only the name for one show. I specifically didn't even initialize the topic title because of this.

It isn't so much that gamers are humorless, it's that networks have no idea how to approach them so they just go for the lowest common denominator instead, and that always results in pure cringe.
