I'm just befuddled how you think this is a gotcha.

Did it not occur to you that, instead of hanging onto this for weeks, you could have easily found this article yourself, since it's from 2019? You could have had your moment then. It turns up 4th on Google search.

The whole point of me challenging you to find that was for you to actually read some of the critique that was posted, and not just living in your head where everyone's sooo unfairly against the show you like.

Like honestly, who spends their time going to bat for "Neurotic White People in NYC with Impossible Living Conditions" the TV Show?
Let's say I did post this article to you right then and there when you demanded it. What then? Are you gonna be all like "I see what you mean and you have thoroughly convinced me of your claim".

Press X for doubt.

It is a good episode, but that doesn't mean it isn't questionable. Jerry telling Ellaine that glancing at cleavage is just natural and uncontrollable with men is one thing, but literally saying a girl's age doesn't factor into it when the character was 15 isn't a great look (especially knowing Jerry Seinfeld dated an underaged girl when he was in his 30s.)

He even nudges George to check her out when she bends down.

Is the only reason you have conversations to "win"?

Like I don't even remember what you said exactly and what I said in response exactly (if you have a saved screenshot, then by all means feel free to share), but like I said, the point was to get the conversation going on why people think this.

No one on that show was likable for any reason. This just adds to it. Why did anyone like that show? Its some of the most annoying TV Ive ever watched.

Seinfeld was honestly it for me. I can't remember a single live-action sitcom I watched once I entered college.

Still watched Simpsons for a while though.

You could have just taken my word for it or you can just easily disagree. I'm fine with either. And now with this topic, I thought I'd share more info for you but look how that went.

Wasnt friends a 90s show?

To put things in context, people back then used thats so gay as an pejorative , and nobody would raise an eyebrow

Of course. No one is really here to retroactively shame people for having watched it back then. It's more about its "holding up". The article notes that it's still really popular.

And it's not to say "you can't watch it". The article literally says as its final paragraph:

None of that should stop anyone from binging Friends, but if your LGBTQ+ friends dont join you, there might be a reason for that.

Like most topics on these kinds of retrospectives of older media, it seems there's such a knee-jerk response to defend the show or believe people are being shamed or cancelled, when none of that is happening.

The creation of Chandler was so interesting. He was intentionally written to be a gay character, and they played with the idea of having him come out and be the first recurring gay character on TV. .

That would have been Jodie Dallas, Billy Crystal's character on Soap.
