You know how in a few JRPGs, there's an option for other players to control party members while in battle? I'd like that to be a more common online feature.

lol that sounds good to me because i've just been getting into it. if the game lasts, great.

they probably won't replace it if it's pulling the same numbers 7 years from now, but they might release an alternative

Thing about xiv is, the underlying technology and code for it was basically dog shit even at launch. In the next expansion they are descaling stats because the damage numbers are getting too big to handle

Makes me wish WoW would follow suit. Just finish up the current storyline, take a break for a couple years and then release a new WoW MMO with a brand new world that isn't connected to Azeroth.

I want a Warcraft MMO with zero connection to the current Warcraft characters. Warcraft is just a name. Barely any of the characters from Warcraft 3 had anything to do with the characters from Warcraft 2. I want to see them start again from scratch, Maybe it starts a thousand years in the future. Maybe its just a completely different world. I want to see the same improvements that I saw when Warcraft 2 jumped to Warcraft 3.

You can have re-occuring monsters or races, just don't connect the storylines. The best example is Final Fantasy 11 and 14. Same company made those games, similar monsters and races are in both games, but its an entirely different world with an entirely different cast and story.

FFXI: mmo
FFXII: open
FFXIII: linear
FFXIV: mmo
FFXV: open

FFXVI is going to be linear.

That makes more sense. Not having it set on Azeroth would basically mean it's a different series.

Yeah, pretty much. To me Azeroth already has a set of expansions that are lined up that are going to happen. Dealing with the Void Lords, Maybe bringing back N'Zoth or the rest of the old gods, Finding Elune and dealing with Sargeras. At most 4 expansions if they follow the storyline they have built up.

They need to break away from it.

But on a side note, there is a company called Frost Giant, made up of former Blizzard employees, really big names in the company. People that worked on Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3, the original, not the new one, that are making a brand new RTS game. No details on it as of yet, just that its in the storyboarding process.
