I played a little of both, but didn't come near to finishing them.
I want a quality/time game, so I am thinking Nier might be a better bet. I have a lot of open world games I have not finished yet.

The remaster.

I've never played that so my advice is worthless but I lean towards nier just cause its likely a shorter more easily finished and appreciated game.

I love ME but I really don't ever want to play the first one again.

I was thinking that as well as it would be a better quality experience, not saying that ME is a bad experience.

this is actually a toughie

obviously you'd get much more bang for your buck with me remaster but at the same time nier has such a great narrative and deserves much more attention than automata gets

So you're asking about Nier Replicant vs Mass Effect Legendary Edition? Well they release weeks apart. Nier comes out April 23rd, while Mass Effect comes out May 14th.

If you can really only afford one, I'd go with Mass Effect, just because it's 3 games for $60. That's a lot of bang for your buck.

The full ME experience is a pretty long one, easily over a 100+ hours, compared to Nier's much, much shorter one. Both are great though.

Mass Effect: A lot more game, side quests, a lot of things to do. Long RPG, maybe you don't want something that long.
Nier: Shorter and gets to the point. I love the story and characters. Action game. It is open world but the world is empty.

I'm going for Nier myself because I'm not ready to play a 100+ hour RPG at this time.

I'd agree with that tbh.

At least in terms of time invested vs payoff.
