Real talk, do people still care about achievements?

And by "people," I mean the general gaming audience, not lunatic completionists that play a 40 hour game for 800 hours to 1000/1000 and then shockingly complain that it wasn't an enjoyable experience.

I never got achievements. In game achievements are meh but now here's a trophy,, which isn't real, for doing something in a video game, which isn't real, so that you can show off to your friends, who aren't real, on a social network, which isn't real How vapid

I like collecting them to contribute to an arbitrary score I have. I'll go out of my way in getting plats if they're easy, but not if it's arduous or not fun.
