They're constitutionally required to give them vaccine priority, but I'm guessing at least a few states skipped that and are going to get some well deserved lawsuits.

Why would they be a top priority over everyone else? Close proximity to other people?

Prisons would be a hotbed for infection, and thus mutation. Plus, states have a constitutional requirement to give them immediate care.

Why would a prisoner be top priority over somebody who isnt a criminal and who is contributing to society outside? Id rather vaccinations go to teachers and medical staff than to murderers, rapists, thieves etc

Because the state is responsible for them, and that means giving them high priority. They don't have to be very first, but they need to be among the first groups.

Slow the spread by putting them in isolation or solitary confinement if they have to. One prisoner per cell, their food is delivered to them by someone is a hazmat suit, whatever. Theres no reason these people should be leeching vaccines from people need them more and deserve them more.

That would be incredibly unconstitutional, and for good reason.

Yup. Most are in for nonviolent offenses, and lots are either not guilty at all, sentenced to way more time than their crime deserves, or sentenced for something that shouldn't be illegal in the first place.

I'm all for getting them vaccinated too. LIke others have said, the State is required to give them medical attention, and like again like others have said, not doing so will make it even worse since it can easily mutate

That isn't the issue here. The issue is all these people talking about nothing but political shit all day, and a lot of them bring up talking points just to f'n argue with people. Go somewhere else, please. Or at the very least stop making 30 topics a day about this shit

YOU are not in the care of the State. Think of it this way - the inmates are children and the jailers are their parents. It's the parents responsibility to make sure the children are okay, legally.

And I work at a school, but I'm not a teacher, and every single one of use has had many chances to go and get the vaccine.

nobody is arguing that the state doesnt have a duty of care to prisoners. i'm arguing that there are people who should have higher priority and deserve it more
