I'm just going to copy and paste what I posted on the Vegas subreddit. Maybe someone here has some ideas:

So today I got my first vaccine dose at the Convention Center. After getting my shot I was feeling fine and realized I was a short walk from Tacos El Gordo, so I went and got lunch. I had taken a Lyft to the Convention Center and planned on taking a Lyft home. It seemed silly to walk all the way back to the Convention Center for the ride, but I didn't want the trouble of getting into a ride on the strip, so I walked a short distance around the corner, saw a mellow area that looked good for a pickup, and called the ride. The place I happened to be waiting was the drive/parking lot for the Royal Resort. This turned out to be a mistake.

Pretty much right after I called the Lyft, a security guard arrived and said I could not be there. I informed I would just be a couple minutes (this turned out to be false, but not intentionally on my part) and he told me I could wait on the sidewalk or he would be calling someone to "take care of" me. I assumed he meant the cops at first, but the following events have me a bit more sketched out.

I obliged and went to the sidewalk. It wasn't a busy area so the driver shouldn't have too much trouble picking me up from there. Two drivers canceled on me and what should have been a short wait turned into a nearly 40 minute wait. Over the course of my time there, I noticed in addition to the guard at the door of the Royal Resort, there was another uniformed security guard across the street observing the building, as well as two plain clothes men across the street, but away from the other security guard, observing the building.

While I was waiting a plain clothes buff tattooed man talked to the two plain clothes men watching the building, then made a beeline to me. I said "What's up?" since it was clear he was approaching me. He says "Need something?" I say "No." And then he says "Well you can't be standing in front of this building." I informed him I was just waiting for a Lyft and would be gone soon. He nodded wordlessly and sprinted down the street.

Just before my second Lyft canceled on me, an old blue van (not good with makes and models sorry) slowed next to me and a man looked out and said "Lyft?" I knew this wasn't mine, because my driver was supposed to be a woman in a totally different vehicle. This vehicle didn't even look Lyft approved. But I decided to test it. "For [gave fake name]?" "Yeah!" Then I looked at my phone and went "Oh it says someone different here is my driver though." He nodded and drove off, never picking up a ride.

I had one more person approach me and question, but they were a bit more friendly and didn't threaten me or tell me I couldn't be there, but overall this strikes me as incredibly strange and I'm a bit rattled. I wouldn't have given a shit about this building before, but now all this sketchiness surrounding it has got me curious. What's up with the Royal Resort?

I thought you lived in Cali.

I like abandoned buildings. I wish I could explore them but dont want to get in trouble with the law or killed.

Google says Royal Resort is still open.

And none of the negative reviews mention anything like this. But TDC's gimmick is to make up weird stories.

Ive noticed that he has a tendency to push false narratives.

My guess is it recently closed because when my Lyft driver picked me up he said "Oh I didn't realize they'd closed Royal Resort." It doesn't look decrepit or anything, but it's definitely not open to the public and I felt increasingly sketched out while waiting in front of it.

I lived in Vegas for like three years. California also for about three. Looking for pics the place looks pretty large and active, so I probably found the wrong one.

Prostitution?
Drugs?
Slavery?
Business?
Filming?

Go ahead and try to book a room on any of the websites listing it still and tell me your results. I don't actually make up weird stories all that often, and I'm pretty open with what's not real.

This was sketchy enough that this story was posted to Reddit first, where I do not make up stories as part of my message board personality.

Believe me or not, but any Vegas PotDer can verify this if they feel inclined. I'm genuinely curious about the weird sketchiness surrounding this building.

It's large for sure, and it was active as an actual hotel up until recently because most travel sites still list it, but if you try to book a room it redirects you and tells you to contact the resort directly. Drugs was my first impulse just based on the vibe I got (which doesn't say much I know), but it could be a legal business renting out the hotel too? At least half the security was legit, and they weren't like secret service Blackwater level security or anything, just general mall cop level.

The part that bothers me most is the fake Lyft driver. Like, that's a weird and creepy level of protection.

They didn't dose you with a class 2 amnestic before sending you on your way? The Foundation is getting sloppy.

Wouldn't be the weirdest thing that's allegedly happened to me. My mother is convinced that as a child I could talk to the ghost of my deceased great-grandfather and also that I was abducted by aliens on at least one occasion and that is why I got chronic nosebleeds as a child.

In all seriousness they probably have issues with homeless people crashing on their property and don't want people standing around unless they have business.
