Sorry, I missed it.
I almost forgot it was Sunday, except for it being Easter. All I did today was play the piano and fight the cold. I think I have a job interview tomorrow. Those are some nice speakers, I actually have some coming that were a bit of an impulse buy, but I feel good about it. --- "Whatever the reason you're on Mars, I'm glad you're there, and I wish I was with you." ~Carl Sagan. Ya' It's all good, and I miss Puss'n'Boots. It was odd to even know it was a Sunday. I will be around for the games though, keep tagging me, though damn I fell down on the list. :-p The interview will be for a front of the house spot at a restaurant that will serve food that starts in Belgium and trickles out into Germany and the whole region. I think the spot is mine to lose if I want it. But the place is just opening, so being on the ground level could be good. I met the front of the house manager it my current place, and we hit it off pretty good. I went for a walk downtown to get a slice of Pizza and noticed their door was ajar so I let myself in, formerly talked to She and the Owner, and set up a date for tomorrow. They are already throwing around the bartender position, though I have no experience, I am being candid with that. I can talk up any table, and I miss the tip money. Oh and I can post that Bach piece at any time...I don't because I am not trying to give you more homework. ~But in this case, it is Easter related! And ya, the speakers are an off shoot of a sounds crisis I had a few weeks ago. I'm kinda okay with the ones I have now, but I was like, hell, I want something in the mail and I think this will be an upgrade, so I went for it! --- "Whatever the reason you're on Mars, I'm glad you're there, and I wish I was with you." ~Carl Sagan. Im sorry the last bit of my post (the Bach part) came out all wank - Im down to listen to any Bach anytime compadre since the classical genre will undoubtedly be mostly new for me too Hehe, I've done plenty of digging I assure you! If you want it, I'll timestamp it about the halfway point of the first song. The translations that are presented are mediocre, but the lead in song is basically saying. ....Jesus is dead....Jesus is dead, and it lulls you into a sense of sleep. But in the next song it wakes you up with, "And on the Third day he resurrected" ~That's the Easter Story after all. There is a lot to be said about this... First Bach was a Lutheran, so for him to do a Latin Mass was....rather not normal. ...But what is more, Masses have done by so many great composers.... ...However, Bach went the extra mile and brought the whole liturgical Mass and linked it up into one piece. Basically, he created, with The Mass, the first concept album. Think Sgt. Pepper. None of that was normal in his time. I'll bring you halfway into the lead-up. I wish there was a little less space between songs. The Resurrection punch comes much better when the songs are closer. https://youtu.be/7F7TVM8m95Y?t=3898 --- "Whatever the reason you're on Mars, I'm glad you're there, and I wish I was with you." ~Carl Sagan. This one is mostly about the transition, and how he brought the whole Mass together. Sad, sad, sad, down, down, down, down...and then, On the third day he resurrected. No one was treating The Mass like that back then. --- "Whatever the reason you're on Mars, I'm glad you're there, and I wish I was with you." ~Carl Sagan. This one is mostly about the transition, and how he brought the whole Mass together. Man I can only imagine hearing that live - I remember I saw The Beatles at Symphony Hall here and that was unwordly. I should definitely check out all the free classical concerts they have here.. been missing out, but I think this summer I'm gonna try and make it a mission to hit some up. Anyways, I can hear that down, down, down leading up to the 1:08:43 part.. that was really, really eerie until it all resolves @1:08:53. That was amazing - is there like a progression of his standards easily laid out I can check out to get like a snapshot of his growth going into a work like this? Really, I guess I should be listening to all of it tbh so if there's not it's all good.. I might watch a documentary on his life right now just to get some general baseline to work with lol I imagine music with this kinda scope was already trippy for the ears for it's time, but to have direct intent to expand the 'sound' of Mass in general.. that's crazy when I think about how insulated something like a church can be --- ... I read everything you said, but I'll just pull this out. I do hope you got the, "And on the Third day is resurrected" part, I mean he really drives you into the ground, and then explodes with that. It the lead up that makes it though. If you want to tiptoe into Bach...which I have to say, I have not been letting you do, I would start with The Well-Tempered Clavier, Books I and II, every musician should be at least aware of them. For choir works, I would, and did start with Bach's Magnificat. Yes, there are documentaries about his life...But he was a rather straightforward guy, and considered old-school in his time...Which is funny, because he was lightyears ahead of everyone. You will hear about his 250 mile walk he took to meet one of his idols Dietrich Buxtehude. Vivaldi was also a huge influence on him. And yes do check out everyone's Mass. I would include Willam Byrd and Thomas Tallis in there. Bach was never really allowed to let go with works that were not meant for the church. Though he did get a few pretty cool commissions. The Brandenburg Concertos are landmark works. Oh, and my foot is in the door at the new place. Only as a food runner, but that's all I want for now. It can lead to better things. --- "Whatever the reason you're on Mars, I'm glad you're there, and I wish I was with you." ~Carl Sagan. Currently playing: Flight Simulator X.~PC ... I read everything you said, but I'll just pull this out. Honestly I listened to it again and it sounds like all the ethereal spirits leading up to that part really explode into one mass -- visually it's like seeing a vortex of spirit make man but I don't know how to accurate describe everything it makes me see I get the same feeling once the part about baptism kicks in, the music (especially the voices) become this like whirlwind signifying change If this is like the first auditory change in the 'experience' of song to tell a narrative, what was it like before then? I guess I'll have to be using my ears to find out and dig through some Bach xD If you want to tiptoe into Bach...which I have to say, I have not been letting you do, I would start with The Well-Tempered Clavier, Books I and II, every musician should be at least aware of them. For choir works, I would, and did start with Bach's Magnificat. Heh, thanks! I made a note with those works to check them out -- been really drilling some music theory as of late thanks to the other music topic so this should be interesting. I always held off both modern music and the classical domain since I always felt I wanted to walk into those worlds at a different state in my life where I could have the time to study the inception and basis of what went on to shape alot of music. Personal decision to not just willy nilly a genre and fostered a passion to have my ears work towards hearing the sounds in other music to build excitement. I sorta forgot about that conscious decision and just caught up 'traveling the world' through music and felt like these were temples of 'now' and 'then' in a way Leave it to a musician to be that dramatic LOL but it's true. Good job on the new job though! Do they at least play some good tunes there? Lol edit: actually, I'm gonna start the Magnificat now just cause I do have time right now --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
