I cannot tell if you are invoking this thing called ``sarcasm'' or if you are being genuine. There are many video game channels in existence already; the potential has pretty much already been tapped, sucked dry, and repurposed as real estate, figuratively speaking.

I'd have to agree with EclairReturns. Everything has pretty much been done. And when new games release, people are already on it. And even before they release. So this is either sarcasm, or maybe not very well planned. But if you are serious, what's the "untapped potential" you think you see?

Countless people do that on Twitch.tv already. It wouldn't be new, but it would give viewers something extra to watch. I wouldn't be able to answer your question otherwise.

Whether it is ``cool'' or not depends on what sort of game you plan to stream, I think, and if you plan on adding any extra twists that would make it interesting for viewers to watch.

Should I do this while being cynical towards current games with a bunch of out of touch and misinformed statements, while filming in front of a huge shelf of retro games that I mostly bought in the last ten years? Because I'm not sure if that exists

All joking aside it would be neat to do something, but yeah... I don't really have an angle and even if I did, just about everything you can think of has been done in some form. I think the real key is if you have the charisma to pull off whatever you're doing, so in my case uhh

if you can resonate with an audience then sometimes even a lack of charisma can work as charisma

even in a saturated market, nobody else is you

I'd call your bluff because I don't believe you'd even get on cam. My guess is you'd be like the thousand reddit mining channels that just use a robot voice to read a script. If you went to the length even do the costume, avatar, or vtuber thing I'd be shocked.

Just insert a bunch of memes over gameplay footage from a popular game aka the onlyafro method. I mean you don't have to even play good, infact the worse you play the better. You don't even have to talk for that matter. I mean a video like the one bellow got 600,000 views and it a midi rendition of smooth criminal over some really bad monster hunter footage. Not even hard to do.

Just copy someone else. It works for other youtubers. Its scummy, though. But once you get enough viewers, you can go do whatever...

That's what I hate about illuminaughtii. I love her presentation style, but I can't go a month without seeing her put out a video that beat for beat pretty much copies a podcast I'd listened to at work within the past week or two. At least channels like reignbot or dark curiosity put in the work every time.
