I played it on the switch with some friends the other day. Quite fun, but half the time was spent on toadette flying around and the mini custcenes every time somebody got a star or an ally.

It's one of my favorite franchises. I actually played Super Mario Party (the one on the Switch) with some friends recently and had a lot of fun. It's not as good as the classic ones (especially 2), but it wasn't nearly as bad as 9 and 10.

MP7 is the best, but I like a few the others

MP is only really fun if everyone is on the same chill level and equally skilled

I like the older ones, but a lot of the newer ones are way too luck-based to the point where it feels like everybody pretty much has a 25% chance of winning regardless of how great or terrible they play. (Not that a vastly superior player can't get screwed by Chance Time or poor luck in the earlier games, but it doesn't happen constantly)

yea but it's been like 15 years since a good one. the 64 ones are the ones i remember most. the ds one was good from what i remember. GC were good ones too. most after are lacking.

the new one wasn't horrible but not great or worth the $50-60 for it. it's fun for a few times with friends but wish they had free DLC minigame packs for it to give it more variety. then the whole multiplayer mode and the maps all needed to be updated and better.

If you like the classic Mario Party I highly recommend Dokapon Kingdom.
It's a PS2 game that you can be even more mean.

I actually like it, the most recent one on the Switch is especially great with the unique dice. It's really too bad that it's unplayable to me because 90% of what you do is just wait till it's your turn and for repetitive cutscenes to play over and over.

Mario Party 4-7 are lit. 8 sucks, Bowser Party on 10 is actually pretty fun if people don't overdo it

Same with Super Mario Party, it can get really repetitive, but it is super fun until you get to that point.

1 was fun outside of the stick/palm destruction.
2 was a straight upgrade.
3 went further and also had more maps than any MP since, on top of the best items (seriously bring back the damn reverse shrooms) and Duel Mode was awesome.
4's item selection was bland as hell and the maps sucked, WAY too much RNG fuckery that meant you didn't get to pick the direction you went.
5 was fun but some of the items were ambiguous as hell as to how you were meant to use them (admit it, you all hammer bro'd yourselves thinking it let you pick a target). Also tank battle minigame was awesome.
6 fixed the items but started the downfall of the series as far as the maps go. Every map having a completely different method of play is a novel idea, but FUCK I hate having only ONE option for standard play in the later games. Microphone shit was amusing, especially shouting gibberish and leaving friends with no clue what attack you just triggered.
7 and 8 were alright but again, fuck the different gimmick every map shit. Jerking off minigames made for some funny meme shit at least.
9 and 10... meh...
Super was... okay with friends... maps are garbage, tiny as hell with not a lot going on. The game also takes fucking FOREVER because absolutely everything needs a longass animation.
