They have employees standing outside to take your order in the drive-thru, instead of using the intercom. Especially dumb today, it's raining and they have little phone booth type boxes for these employees. These sit before the menu board. So I guess you're just supposed to know what you want, because these employees don't have a menu for you to look at.

I don't get any of it.

Since covid it's been a thing here. It speeds up drive through since you can't take off the edge of a rush by splitting inside and outside ordering. Usually they have little paper menus or they'll flip their tablet towards you to look if you don't know what you want already without looking.

It's a way to speed up the drive through. But it only really works if they can walk car to car. Doesn't really make sense to do it in the rain from a booth.

Chic Fil A has nothing but high school teenagers in my area unless you go during breakfast/lunch hour which makes reading this super creepy.

I got the #1 CFA in my town. They're usually 20 cars deep at one time and I'm never in line longer than 15 min

It's not a Covid thing; they've done it before and will do it after.

It gets more orders to the kitchen faster and generally makes the whole drive-thru experience more efficient. The order takers should be carrying around a laminated menu for customers who don't have everything memorized.

Mine does it this way. The phone booths are new this season, but the building itself is only ~2 years old now. The service is impeccable and I'm never in line more than 10 minutes or so. It makes the McDonald's in the same plaza seem like a joke by comparison.

This isn't new, my local ones have done this for years. It's always busy, and it's to speed up wait time.
