I don't like tacos. They're not that good and both hard shell and soft shell have horrible texture for different reasons. Sometimes people let them get all greasy and soggy too and even when you eat "good, authentic" tacos recommended by that one guy everyone seems to know, you're mostly just tasting your own pretentiousness.

I like mine with meat, cheese, sour cream, beans, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos prefered if available or hot sauce, avocado acceptable if available

No onions or cilantro or anything containing either. Those are both deal breakers and I will not eat them.

I grew up eating Americanized tacos and authentic ones. I consider them different foods, more or less, and like them both for what they are rather than how they compare to one another.

Lol. What? No casual person is taking food that serious. Tasting your own pretentioousness lol. I don't think the average person is faking their tastes. The average person will talk about authentic restaurants and fast food all the same.

Mexican tacos are corn tortillas with a little meat in them. You cant get any more simple than that.
Everything else are condiments.
Even with condiments, a Mexican taco just has a little cilantro and onion with a shot of salsa.

Sounds like a lot of you have had Americanized Mexican tacos.
