Kids and teenagers say dumb and offensive shit because a lot of the time they don't know if its dumb or offensive, or they do they just don't care. They learn their lesson later on, or become an incel and never change

I'm looking through it as it was my actual life. I wasn't a saint by any means, but one thing that was ingrained in me was everyone deserves respect regardless of ethnicity, religion, sexuality, etc....

You seem to be continually missing the point - it's not that teens don't want to be edgy/ do dumb things, it's that not every teen is going go in *this* specific direction (repeated racist comparisons). Additionally there's a wide gulf of what we'd expect from a 14 year old versus a 17 year old.

I never even knew a "Teen Vogue" existed until this story. Sounds like a shitty website and everyone who works there is probably stuck up as fuck.

After speaking with Alexi this morning, we agreed that it was best to part ways, so as to not overshadow the important work happening at Teen Vogue.

So Conde Nast, which, if you are unaware, is one of the largest global media corporations in the world & has been active for over 100 years. They publish major circulars like GQ, Vanity Fair, & Vogue. I find it hard to believe that a company of the stature of Conde Nast did not engage in proper vetting before appointing someone to be editor of one of their major magazines.

So they were not blindsided by unearthed tweets. They were fully aware, hired her anyway, but the twenty-something staffers didn't want to work with her, combined with the unfortunate timing of the aforementioned-in-this-topic fashionable caring about racism against Asians being en vogue (pun intended) sunk her chances.

So never give someone a chance ever? Thats a sad way to live life. I have quite a few friends who were assholes in their younger ages, mostly of cause their parents and how they were raised. Got a friend who used to be super conservative and republican, cause his parents were. He was racist and hated a lot of people for various reasons. As an adult and spending years away from his parents? He is very liberal now and while he still talks to his parents, he hates how he used to be.

So never give someone a chance ever? Thats a sad way to live life. I have quite a few friends who were assholes in their younger ages, mostly of cause their parents and how they were raised. Got a friend who used to be super conservative and republican, cause his parents were. He was racist and hated a lot of people for various reasons. As an adult and spending years away from his parents? He is very liberal now and while he still talks to his parents, he hates how he used to be.

The brutal truth is that most businesses probably dont want to risk their reputation by hiring or keeping an employee who could damage them. I get that it sucks for a lot of people, but of course its a bottom line issue.

In a somewhat related manner, this reminds me of dating relationships and how some people vet their dates, while others dont at all or are totally Ok with dating someone with a shady past. But if youre not desperate and youve got options, then why bother taking risks youll regret later?

One thing I just really want to say is that maybe you should maybe consider that sometimes black people are very used to being reduced to their race. So I totally understand a young black person not thinking things like "outdone by an asian" are offensive. Please just consider that that might be real, I've seen examples in my real life.
