Though I will say I've heard it, people mockingly saying the "China virus" and whatnot

Mockingly as in making fun of people who use it unironically?

Honestly I've heard more fake stereotypical Asian accents from Asian comedians than I've heard from white people in real life.

My would be homies actually they were trying to make fun of an Asian man in a stereotypical way and I told them to fuck off

We got into it and eventually they sorta saw how important that was for me and us as Latinos to not act in those ways and represent ourselves as the shit we hate

They were young then and now theyre some of the most open minded people despite stereotypes about these kind of people

I guess the irony for me is that Ive dating multiple asian girls long term and Ive never heard anyone be racist towards them. Then again Im from LA so people are generally more accepting of different cultures.

Im shocked to see Asians being the targets of racial hate crimes in San Francisco, as SF has a large asian demographic. Its just appalling stuff.

none that I can think of.

I've lived in the Sacramento area all my life, and it's supposed to be one of the most racially integrated cities in the country, and in my area, people of different ethnicities usually had decent relationships with each other.

but I haven't been out too much due to the covid pandemic, so I haven't been around to see how things might have changed.

You have people slandering the black community and creating some narrative where we have just decided to attack asian Americans out some long seeded deep hatred of them.

If we are gonna go this route, let's put ALL the receipts on the table

by 'stereo types about these kind of people' I was referring to my homies btw

We all sorta grew up around bad influences and they sorta went on their own path to represent and be into repping colored flags.. but they're honest and great people and they really are ride or die kids living that life. We all sorta blended our friend groups over the years (we've been best friends since middle school) and now it's just a big carnival of all sorts of people of different faiths and ideas.

Shit, we even used to make fun of white guys -- but we also got cool with our white homie that would kick it just as well and knew that kid deserved respect for rolling with us

The world sucks, but there are alot of people besides me and my homies that would stick up against bullshit like this -- it's not right

I know plenty of Black and Latino people who doesn't give a shit about each other.

But it's always seems like the White mans fault.

And don't get me started on the Honduras and Mexican guys that hated each other.

Also never ever call a South American a Mexican more than twice.

There was two asian kids in my school, one was well liked and the other fairly quite. Neither dealt with any bullying or racism. Even outside of school I like in a town that 93% white, so I rarely see any asians anyways.

yeah, when I've dated asian guys
Same, I dated an Asian guy and we drew stares from other guys a lot. Some would whistle/cat call me in front of him. It made him uncomfortable. My family also completely flipped out about it. Otoh, the guy I was dating would also make comments about how he was dating up with me since I wasnt Asian. That made me very uncomfortable as well. His mom also disliked me for not being Asian. We didnt date for long.

Also, Ive heard a lot of guys fetishize Asian women and talk about how much better they are than western women because of how submissive. Which I would always laugh at because its a shit stereotype and I had a lot of Asian female friends that were the opposite of submissive.

yeah, there were stares, which was annoying too! I was harassed by one of my jealous exes about it also, like he left a racist note on my car and other things like that, lmao. There was a lot of jelly dudes, even after I broke up with him, guys would get very jealous that I dated someone who wasn't white.. ??? My family flipped as well, they'd make racist comments to his face sometimes... I stopped introducing them to non-white bfs after that tbh

I've heard of that online, but thankfully never IRL
So strange. I dont understand how men can feel that territorial about who women choose to date. My brother was very vocal about it but he dated an Asian girl in the past (and made those dumb comments I mentioned). But it was fine for him and apparently not for me? My family had a hard time with my husband too who is Hispanic. My mom was convinced he must have kids with a bunch of baby mommas that he was hiding from me. Just awful stuff. But luckily theyve grown from that in recent years and they adore him and cant wait to see what our baby is going to look like, etc. I hope your family learns better too. I would be mortified if they said something directly to the guy I was dating.

Constantly. 2021 and people still think "me so _____", "flied lice" and exaggerated karate moves while going "WOOO SAAA HIYA" is somehow funny and not at all indicative that they're a fucking moron.

....are we gonna ignore the history of racism perpetrated by the Asian American community? Is that just something we cant talk about?

So...because some Asians (like all people) are racist, that makes racism against them ok? Is that what you're implying? Because that's what you're implying when you handwave and wattabout racism towards a specific group.

Pssst...two things can be wrong simultaneously, you know.
