Should the government pay for all pads/tampons?

Essentially 50% of the population needs it for several decades. Is it reasonable to cover this via government subsidies through increased taxes?

No. It's a dumb talking point. Anyone who cannot afford them needs more help than just a singular subset of necessary sanitary products and toiletries. If there is actually a large swathe of people who need them and cannot afford them, then it'd be better to use that money to focus on making sure they have every self-care product and necessity available to them.

Lmao no.

if both men and women had menstruation nobody would be pushing for this to be free.

yes, its a hygiene product, and hygiene is important, but deodorant, shampoo, soap, etc are hygiene products too, and nobody is pushing to make them free.

what about toilet paper? Its hygiene and its also amazingly important (imagine walking around with poop on your ass crack, or maybe wiping with your hand) and nobody is saying TP should be free.

if men didnt poop people would be trying to make TP free too.

Toilet paper is free in public restrooms.
Paper towels are free in public restrooms.
Soap is free in public restrooms.
These are items used to maintain hygiene.
Yes, tampons and pads would be free in a public bathroom, just like those items are.

Only reason they aren't free in public restrooms is because men don't have periods.

I don't think men realize how important these are as basic hygiene products because we've been taught never to talk about it

That person you quoted was me, sherlock.

And those items are free in a public setting. There's no reason feminine hygiene products shouldn't be free and available in a public setting too. People aren't going to run to their local Applebees to steal tampons. Like TP and soap, women will still buy those products. It would just be nice to have them available in the times that women need them, which believe it or not, is most of their lives.

you have convinced me. They should be free in public restrooms.

see CE? It wasnt hard. All it took was to present a reasonable argument and not center around saying men are bad and that men are victimizers or whatever else was being said ITT
