Over 30? Easily. It might depend on your location, but I'm in New England and there are plenty of good-looking single women over 30 with no kids.

This is why I was asking, been out of the dating scene for many years. I just don't run into very many sane, attractive, single women with no kids over the age of 30.

The average age of first time mothers in canada in the last 5 years is 30.8 and for fathers its 33.something.

Anecdotally and statistically more and more people are waiting till their early 30s to have kids in basically all first world countries. Same for the us but the Bible belt is like the only place really bucking that trend.

Well you didn't qualify that last one.

But I'm hardly one to talk. 41 and only a few meaningful relationships in my life, none of which I saw through to long-term. And I've certainly got my share of issues.

Long-term is however you want to define it really. None of mine broke a year.

And perhaps I'm thinking long-term as less "time" and more "commitment". Like living together. Never had a relationship where we lived together.

I never understood the people here who argue against dating single moms. You don't have to do it, but why do you hate them so much that you want to convince others that theu should force them to be alone for the rest of their lives if they're baby daddy walks out? Seems spiteful. Very spiteful

Yeah, same.

Im sure most of these mothers are decent people, but adding the responsibility of children into the mix doesnt make sense to me. There is no upside for us, as men, and there are billions of women out there. You can find one without a child.

Absolutely. I guess if you're in your 20's that's potentially a lot more responsibility than you're ready for. But otherwise, it's not a big deal.

Once you hit a certain age, about 35 imo, you pretty much have to be open to it or your options are going to be severely limited. Especially if you dont live in a big city.

Id much rather not though. Lucky I have about 7 years before I hit that point.

Not entirely true. I've seen plenty of single moms on dating apps who specifically say they're not looking for a step-parent.

Arguably more common if the kid is grown.

I guarantee that she would have made tons of excuses even if she didn't have kids. That's a personality problem, not a single mom problem.

Sure, good mothers should prioritize their children.

That said, they are her children, her responsibility. And thats the issue. There is no incentive, no upside, for a single man to take on that extra duty, which will cost him money, time and effort that he could have invested elsewhere, perhaps in making his own family. If all he and she are interested in is a friends with benefits arrangement, then that would be different.

An older man who is unlikely to start a family from scratch and would like to raise a child?

I split up with my ex in December and didn't plan on looking for another partner until around September. A girl randomly noticed me and we hit it off really strong for 3 weeks, but once we had sex it was too complicated and I haven't seen her since.

I'm still not actively looking for a relationship and am just keeping to myself, trying to finish school and lose about 6% body fat so I can look amazing and THEN look for someone. I look on dating apps out of boredom sometimes and notice that all of the attractive, well put together women are either 24+ with a kid or 18-21 without a kid.

I am 24. The lowest I'd go for dating is 20 because I feel like the girl just knows what she's really getting into at that point, but I do think that's going to keep changing as I get older. Eventually the youngest will be 21, 22, etc. My concern is that once I'm established and ready I won't be able to find an attractive, smart, fun partner who doesn't already have a kid.

Those old men are perfect for a single mom. He can just sit at home and watch the children while she goes to work.

Yes, I suppose that would be another exception, although Ive never met anybody like that. I know a lot of older guys and many who are stepfathers, but not a single one views it as a preference. They simply met younger women they were attracted to and settled with the family as is. Some worked for a while and others crumpled quickly. I guess they didnt have many options.

If you want to see how little you can mean to a person become a step father and try to discipline her children when they do something wrong or do not respect you at all. Lots of stories out there that talk about this kind of shit and most times being a step father is the worst choice a man can make.

Let me put it this way:

most women would not date a short guy, or a fat guy, or a bald guy, or a poor guy, or a guy who cries easily, or a guy who is poor.

why would it be not ok for men not to want to date a girl with pre-existing crotch fruits?

And I don't think anyone here has said it's "not okay" to not want to date a single mom.
