This. Also, even if it were as the TC presented it, the "defunding" of the police is being set up to fail because, while citizens would like the police to be reformed, politicians and police unions don't want that at all, so any "reforms" you get are set up to fail so they can point at the failure and say that slashing police budgets, requiring accountability for bad officers, or exploring alternatives to heavily policing people are all ridiculous ideas.
