I'm also 5'8", and I've been losing weight. Down to about 155ish. But I don't think I'd want to go that low.

... I could fight both of you at the same time and not break a sweat. I could carry you both and not even notice. What are you guys doing, this sounds very unhealthy.

i only eat once a day since i find it's easier on my ibs

though even before ibs, i've always been ~125 or so (i run really hot, so i like to think it's cause of that)

man, you don't even know

i get so hungry sometimes (considering the whole eating-once-a-day thing) that i often gorge

had two double-doubles, a cheeseburger, and fries in a single sitting last time i went to in-n-out for instance (that's a lot for me, anyway)

I mean I have IBS and I weigh plenty... Does it cause you to have incessant booms or something? You need more calories obviously or you are going to wither away. I have lots of bathroom problems but nothing really makes a difference.

so i obviously have an overly sensitive stomach, but that's (relatively) easily taken care of as long as i just avoid problem foods

what persists, though, regardless of what i eat, is an inability to completely empty my bowels within a single movement or two like normal people

this means that it can take anywhere from an hour to 2.5+ for me to take a shit, from when i first sit down to when i'm finally washing my hands

-

when i used to eat more often, i would regularly have to go in the morning - daily, actually - without fail

would often times even have to go again within half an hour of the first trip (and, again, it takes me a long time to go since i can't void my bowels completely quickly)

and depending on what i had to do that day, this could (and often would) totally fuck me over, punctually-speaking

i'd also have to constantly be aware of and think about what i was eating over the course of the entire day, and it could sometimes be hard to distinguish the feelings i'd get in my stomach (e.g. is it truly upset? am i just full? is something else going on? etc.) and i'd get anxious and stuff

-

eating only once a day has decreased the number of trips i need to take by half or more

i usually only need to go anywhere from only once a day to once every other day, to even once every three days at times

i also don't have to wake up urgently needing to shit everyday (worst way to start the day imo), and have more time to myself now

limiting myself to only eating dinners also allows me to be able to go through an entire day without having to think about how my stomach is feeling (since i haven't eaten anything) and i don't have to make as many decisions regarding what i'm eventually going to eat

i love feeling nimble and light and stuff, too

i mean, there are definite cons to this lifestyle (like, i get food comas like no other and often feel tired), but it just works out for me a whole lot better overall since i don't have to poop as often

Man I can go as often as 5 times a day and as little as 2, but sometimes you just have to tight-butthole it. I'm being completely serious, you go and then anything extra you just have to hold onto, you save it up, and then it goes all at once in the next trip. I don't have a whole lot of emergency poos anymore unless I eat something crazy like an entire jar of pickles.

Have you tried stool hardeners? Because if you're 120 at 5'8" something is going crucially wrong. I don't pretend to understand your particular body issues because only you and your doctor can, but my gf is 4'11" and 105-110 normally. And she's pretty damn skinny. That's almost a foot of height on her, and even though she's a bit thicc you have to be skin and bone at this rate. I looked into stool hardening at one point and my only concern was cost, but it really made it simple when I tried it because it shrunk my bathroom experience to nothing in comparison.

I'm 5'10" but I used to be around that thin because of UC. I'm slightly bigger now but ultimately the biggest difference isn't my age but that my UC is in remission. People don't understand how much these diseases can impact you.

yeah, i definitely remember my own share of awful instances of having to hold it in for waaaay longer than is healthy and/or should even be possible

it's just not ideal, though, since it takes away your ability to be mentally present, at which point you might as well just be in the restroom anyway

-

and regarding stool softeners or anything else like that - my poop is actually generally pretty "normal" for the most part, i.e. i rarely get diarrhea, it's rarely overly hard or dry, etc.

and the thing, too, is that, like, even when i do get something like diarrhea, it still takes me an hour plus to empty it all out, which i just... don't even understand

so it makes me think that my problem is more anatomical or something, idk

appreciate the advice, though

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

yeah, it took my dumb ass in particular a suuuuper long time to figure out that i had ibs and that certain foods - that i'd been eating for my entire life up until that point - were just not viable for consumption anymore

always used to refer to it as some nebulous "stomach problem" or something, and used to get pretty embarrassed over it

i'm both a lot more in control over and open about it nowadays, thankfully

oh fuck, dude, you have my sympathies

from what i understand, things like uc and crohn's are like ibs on steroids

like, i mean, outside of having to take a really long time to poop, i'm practically symptom-free and don't feel any chronic discomfort or inflammation or anything like that

Haha the funny part is that steroids are what you take to make things like UC under control when they are active. But I appreciate the sympathy.
