I knew about the book because back in the early 80s, a white supremacist militia armed to the teeth with military tech took over a town resulting in the highest number of police casualties in the nation at that time. The police were simply outgunned, only SWAT had access to military tech at that time. The militia were eventually all killed and a copy of "The Turner Diaries" was found on the militia leader's body.

There is also another novel written by a French antisemite that is just as revered by white supremacists called "The Camp of the Saints". Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon required Trump's cabinet to read it during the Trump administration.
