He shared his story on twitter stating he was booted in NYC because he doesn't "share the company's values" He posted a photo of the letter he sent to CEO Dane Bane on 5 changes to improve safety amid the pandemic including a 3 strike policy to ban customers who repeatedly flout mask rules He said "We put our lives on the line every day by showing up to work. Please, show up for us by adopting these policies" It quickly went viral and now there's a call for a boycott as the company has more than 500 locations In a subsequent tweet he shared the termination letter that said "In a recent email, you suggest adopting a 3 strike policy against custoemrs and a policy enforcing the same accomodation for every customer with a medical condition that precludes them from wearing a mask. These suggestion are not in line with our core values. In addition, yo ustate that Trader Joe's not showing up for for us without adopting your policies. It is clear that you do not understand our values. As a result, we are no longer comfortable having you work for Trader Joes" Outraged users are now praising Bonnema and are outraged over his termination and said they will not shop there until Bonnema is reinstated as a twitter account belonging to the workers union for Trader Joes threw their support behind him. A spokesperson for Trader Joe's addressed it and said the firing was because he disrespected their customers and said they would never ever fire someone for an employee raising safety concerns but said his demands were too much and not in line with the company.. I worked for Trader Joe's at one point. They can fire you on the spot if they really want to. Unless the guy was trying to actively enforce these restrictions without them being official this is clearly bullshit.
