Started playing finally. Milquetoast. Hunter's Axe, Blunderbuss. After a few hours of dying in the first area i decided to start over.

Milquetoast. Saw Cleaver. Hunter's Pistol. I liked this run better but maybe because i myself got better at playing.

Just beat the second boss and now i main Threaded Cane and trying out the Repeating Pistol.

Picked up the Flamesprayer for free. Are there any other weapons i can find without paying?

Which ones so i don't waste money? I'll hoping it doesnt take too much money to try out every weapon. I'm afraid they'll be too weak after a certain point of the game.

I didn't realize it plays like a sword. Then i learned its also a whip and was like fuck yeah should have chosen this from the start.

Weapons that are better than a maxed out Saw Cleaver with blood gems? Not really, not until you reach the Hunter's Nightmare where you can find the Holy Moonlight Sword, Rakuyo, and Simon's Bowblade.

Burial Blade is definitely one of my mains and highly effective but it's only available via the Hunter's Dream shop.

You're right. I'm on NG+4 (over 3 years now) so all of those tiny details about weapon locations have been lost on me.
The Holy Blade is the actual OP weapon for first timers but that can only be bought btw

If you want to stick with the threaded cane, try to rush Blades of Mercy. Not only do they scale with the stats you're working with, but it has this amazing ability where each attack is faster than the previous one, so with enough stamina you can absolutely shred enemies.

Bloodborne brought me back to gaming after a 10-15 year hiatus. The heyday of that board was glorious. People would post co-op requests and users would rush to assist.

Feel like dying happens no matter what, but at least the cane is a fun way to add variety.

I've decided to try all the weapons out after the Threaded Cane took me by surprise. Just worried about how difficult it will be to keep playing with non-upgraded weapons . My original plan was to keep the Saw Cleaver until fully upgraded.

What does scale mean in this context? I keep seeing that word, but don't understand.

Are those white ghost people running around actual players? That's cool if they're in the same area as me at the same time even though we cannot physically interact.

Experiment with those weapons in low level chalice dungeons. It'll let you farm for materials at relatively low risk. When you find something you love, upgrade that and use it for the main story.

Weapons get stronger when you raise certain character stats (up to a certain amount). You'll see little letter grades when you go to your weapon info which tell you which stats will produce a greater damage increase.

Concerning the threaded cane, I honestly don't get the hype around it. I read praises on its trick features and whatnot but for real, I found it to be absolutely useless outside of Yharnam where 99% of enemies are beasts and even against beast bosses, I'd rather stick with the forever reliable saw cleaver to get the job done. Its serrated and arcane stats just don't cut it compared to other weapons with those similar damage stats and wide attack range like the Holy Blade.

Too flashy for my tastes and most definitely not ideal as an equipped weapon for first timers. You have to max that SOB out with some damn good bloodgems and practice the R2 to pull it off.

I dont know what chalice dungeons are. I just ran into some machine gun guy on a roof. Turned around and bought the $10000 key that opened a gate to a new area. Currenting learning Kirkhammer.

I see the grades but dont understand the symbols. And still unsure what scaling is. Saw it on a fortifying blood gem stone and it looked like some sort of multiplier.

Compared to the Hunter Axe and Saw Cleaver, using the threaded cane was faster and looked more elegant. The whip was a pleasant surprise. I do usually find myself switching to saw Cleaver in a pinch, tho (mostly due to the fact i upgraded it twice before deciding to try out other weapons). But for me the cane is a lot of fun to use.

Scaling means how much damage a weapon gets by investing into a certain stat. If a weapon has A scaling in dexterity and another weapon has C scaling the first might deal 5 more damage every time you raise dexterity one level while the second weapon only gets 2.

Made up numbers for illustrative purposes.

Also there's a soft cap where both strength and dexterity has a much smaller effect on weapon damage, which I believe is 40 on each.

Ah i understand. Some weapons are geared towards and get stat bonuses for certain attributes such as dexterity or strength

I know the red hunter ghosts are those who died at that spot. So white ghosts must be those alive. Yet I'm still unsure if they are playing at that moment

To go just one step further, the letter grade for each stat can change as the weapon levels up. so you might have a weapon that has B scaling at dexterity that becomes A scaling at max level, which dramatically increases its strength if you've invested a lot into dexterity.

I would highly recommend checking one of the wiki's to see what the max scaling is on all the different weapons because it will heavily drive how you invest your stats to make sure you have an effective end game build.
