Played a ton of Walking Dead VR, what a massively fun game. Love sprinting around with my knife held up like Michael Myers on crack. Just sliding in zom faces. Don't even get nauseous anymore but still have to take breaks

Played tons of Yakuza 1 remake. Great game, was up way too late last night

You should really check out the thread if you haven't already seen it. The mods basically whine for three pages about how they aren't obligated to clean up communities and their volunteer job that they volunteered for is sooo haaaard

Having a rough one myself. 38 days sober today, I thought I was well over the hump and doubted when reading that withdrawal symptoms can occur for months. Didn't sleep at all last night, been feeling sick again like the first few days of quitting. I'm off work today and all that's in my brain is "go buy a bottle, just one, and then stop again" just so I can be relieved from the body pain and insomnia. I don't think i'm gonna cave but this has been one of the toughest days so far.

38 days? Man you got this shit. As far as withdrawal-induced insomnia, that's harsh man. I don't wanna come off as patronizing, but have you tried melatonin before bed? Or upping your physical activity during the day? If you have a tub you should really take a hot soak. Your body is probably so tensed up from those stressful thoughts, compounded by lack of sleep

I appreciate it guys, and yeah i've tried every sleep aid you can basically buy that isn't prescription, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm starting to prepare for grow season so i'm gonna be working in the yard a lot today, maybe I just need to go at it hard and try to do a ton of heavy lifting and whatnot. There's so many places around here to hike and lots of nature trails, i've just been lazy about it, it's been cold and I bring the dog with me and she's gotta dive in the lake if she sees one, that water is frigid until it warms up a bit lol.

A breathing exercise my therapist taught me actually, legitimately helps me to fall asleep when I'm having trouble

do a slow, protracted inhale while visualizing the numbers in a countdown from 5. eyes closed, begin to breathe in, 5, keep breathing in, 4, etc, down to 1. when at 1, begin a slow exhale from your mouth, while visualizing the numbers going back up, starting with 1. eyes closed, begin to breathe out, 1, keep exhaling, 2, etc, til you get to 5. for pace, you want to aim for 5-6 seconds on the inhale, 5-6 seconds on the exhale. if you do this, and legit actually focus on it, your blood pressure should go down within 10 minutes. this always results in me passing the fuck out

Did you ever get to playing If Found... by the way? I just wrote up a full review for it I submitted here a second ago. I'll just go ahead and post it here since it relates to this topic anyway, and I want more people to play it.

(WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MILD SPOILERS)

If Found... is a visual novel presented in the form of an art journal, and its fragmented narrative structure is very much a reflection of its central character's ongoing struggle towards self actualization.

The game opens with our mysterious protagonist's alter ego, Cassiopeia, drifting through space as a black hole threatens to envelop the Earth, as this haunting, gorgeous, otherworldly electronic score perfectly sets the backdrop for the scene.

We're soon dropped back into the real world, when a new mystery begins to unfold as our protagonist's real world counterpart, Kasio, returns home from her second year of college. We immediately get the sense that something is off through the way information is presented in the journal; sometimes words might be scribbled out, or written over. The player is provided an eraser to uncover some of these additional details, it's a really nice way to help us delve into Kasio's thought process; we can see the way she constantly second guesses herself from moment to moment.

With each new scene, we're getting a fuller, more comprehensive persepective of her situation; of all of these people and thoughts that weigh so heavily on her psyche. The journal Kasio has entrusted to us holds her innermost secrets and desires, and the journey we take with her is one that feels both intensely intimate, and emotionally sincere.

Though the gameplay in If Found... never really evolves, and admittedly might have grown stale in a longer game, its tremendous visual/aural presentation is enough to keep things consistently engaging throughout the course of its relatively brief 2.5 hour runtime.

Even in 2021, media featuring queer characters are still few and far between, and even more rarely do they feel quite as authentic and fully realized as they do here. While it might not break new ground in terms of its gameplay, it's still a powerful, and often brutally honest representation of the trans experience, and a must play for anyone aching for a great story. A fantastic, one of a kind visual novel.

Everything I write is sad, haha. It IS rough in patches, but the ending is a happy one.
