Gonna be looking at 4 homes today.

I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I think it would be nice to finally be a home owner. I thought I was going to wait quite a bit longer before I started doing this, but I'm not liking my apartment much at all and I don't really want to move to another apartment. We'll see how this goes.

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing. I'm not sure how long I'm gonna be house hunting or if I'm gonna wait until closer to the end of my lease, but we'll see.

My ideal house:

• 3 bedroom, 2 to 2.5 baths
• 2-car garage
• 2 stories
• Stall shower + tub in the master bathroom
• Google Fiber internet available

And then I'm most likely going to add a Tesla power wall + solar roof pretty early on.

Yeah, that's one thing that made me want to move from Austin to San Antonio. I was paying $1350/month in rent for about 850sqft in Austin. I'm paying about $1100 in San Antonio for about 750sqft, but my mortgage would be just a little bit more than that for more than double the space.

Do they even serve houses? They told me to fuck off signing up for a wait list to get them to install it where I live because they require at least 20-40 apartments in the residence for them to consider doing it.

i live in NJ too, im paying nearly $10k a year in property taxes alone lol. this state is prohibitively expensive to live in

cable - good luck on the house hunt, it is a pain in the ass dealing with mortgages and shit. it's basically like buying a car but it takes a month instead of an afternoon

Yeah, they're in a number of neighborhoods in San Antonio, but not the one I chose, unfortunately. I'm probably going to have to go with AT&T fiber to get gigabit speeds.

I just took a a house for about $252k. They said the appraisal may come in a bit lower, which helps me, but we'll see. They've got to work on drawing up the contracts and stuff, but it's pretty much mine

cable - good luck on the house hunt, it is a pain in the ass dealing with mortgages and shit. it's basically like buying a car but it takes a month instead of an afternoon

Same question to you. None of my irl friends will answer for obvious reasons. Trying to get a condo when my lease ends around September and want to know what I'm looking at if I even attempt it. Basic search on zillow says my expenses will be a few hundred cheaper for more space and that can't be right.

mortgage: is about $2700 a month, of which like $900~ of that is property taxes. the $1800 includes PMI, I think it was only like $75 a month or something.

electric/gas: like $200 - 300, but i keep the AC/heat going most of the time because I have a baby & pet at home

water: i think it's like $50 a month or so, i forgot because i don't get paper bills and keep it on autopay

internet: ihave Verizon Fios, we pay $30 a month for 200mbps up/down. no cable, i use youtube tv + netflix for streaming but that's basically just as expensive as cable now

trash/recycling: included in our taxes

for reference, i live in middlesex county and its a 4br house so a condo will probably be a lot cheaper to maintain

Good luck. Make sure you get everything inspected. EVERYTHING. Get insurance for sewage too.
