It's basically the easiest way to manage MMORPG progression, but it really neglects the point of other skills / builds.

Once you unlock the gun skill it becomes a lot easier to deal damage

Assuming you're talking about WoW, it is kind of lame that every single tanking mechanic is just "get to X amount of stacks, then swap."
