Dungeons are heavy on the puzzles.
Much much more action oriented combat.
Skill tree and equipments.

This interests me.
The puzzles are fine if theres as much action/rpg as you say.

Difficulty is very customizable in Crosscode so that if you're having trouble with the puzzles you can make those easier if you want

Crosscode is pretty great. I played it on Gamepass last year and then I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition for PS4(which took forever to ship). The combat is on the easier side and most bosses are more puzzle-y than like a skill/gear check. I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone that hates puzzles just because there are so many, and Zelda is usually the first thing I'd compare it to because of what Crosscode's Temples are like.

Also if you end up enjoying it on console and want more, the epilogue DLC comes out later this year(PC already has it).

There are a few good Indie titles as well on the under 20 bucks sale.

I will UPDATE this post.

Morbid the seven acolytes: I've yet to play it but it's got great reviews and it looks like almost a 2d Dark Souls/roguelite? I will most certainly purchase it when it's a little cheaper.

Horizon Chase Turbo: this was a free PS Plus game a couple years ago. I fucking loved it. And if you love old school racers like Top Gear/OutRun, then this is a no-brainer. A-

Hotline Miami collection: B+ overhead 2D shooter. Awesome times!

Neurovoider- twin stick rogueLIKE (permadeath) with great reviews. Never tried it myself though.

Permadeath = NeuroVoider/Dead Cells

Progressive deaths = Moonlighter, Children of Morta, Rogue Legacy (not on sale, but still available on PSN)

That's just off the top of my head.

Are you new to the Roguelite/ like genre?

I should note that Morbid is not a rogue game.

Moonlighter and Children of Morta are dungeon ROGUELITES (dying lets you level up because you gain gold or artifacts.)

In Children of Morta, you slay enemies/objects to gain gold and then you can level up stats permanently after death or even during gameplay (but these level up effects last only are until you die). Also, after dying you will meet new family members with different, unique abilities. This reminded me of Rogue Legacy! But beware, do not use one member too often otherwise they will begin the journey with less strength and health. In order to mitigate that, you can always start the journey with a different relative.

In Moonlighter, there's a quality shop keeping aspect. I found it very interesting compared to other games in the genre. You level up by entering dungeons and finding artifacts, items, etc. Then you go back to town after dying or by manually leaving (but at a proportionate monetary penalty) to sell them to townfolk for coin.

Children of Morta definitely has the better combat system. But I most certainly enjoyed the shop keeping elements of Moonlighter. In both games, as long as you beat a main boss, then that boss is forever gone (aka roguelite).

Stereden: Binary Stars is a roguelike (permadeath) heavily on sale. It's a shoot-'em-up 2D scroller.

Hammerwatch is also on sale... I believe it's a roguelite?

For me, I value a game highly based on how many hours it gives me. It's not my only rating but it's often a huge factor.

Observation is a great game. It's a sleeper hit. Its reviews are generally favorable but you don't hear much about it. For $11 and change you will not get 11 tours out of it on a single run but you will get about seven hours. If you enjoy space titles, and there's not many out there, you will definitely like Observation without a single doubt in my mind. Especially if you like the idea of being an AI... as you Scour for clues, solving puzzles and unraveling mysteries. If you have PS now, you can stream it for free.

Kona is a $3 game that will get you six hours worth of gameplay. I think it got me about 7. I like this a lot because you have a great winter theme and a good story.

Hue- I hadn't heard much about this game until I Googled it and saw it's got great reviews. If you get it in the Indie bundle pack I was referring to in my original post you can get three games for a 1.49. I've already put a half an hour into this game and I absolutely adore it. The music is beautiful and it's so relaxing. Audio is usually not a big thing for me but the audio just struck me. Apparently it's a 5-hour game. How can you not get that for a 1.49 plus two more games?!

Really everything in original post is worthy of a try.

What are your fav genres?
Interesting, I value games mostly in the inverse way. Although the total playtime they give me is somewhat of a factor, I care more about the experience overall. I'd be glad to play a short game even if it's very short as long as it's a fantastic experience to back it up (to an extent though).

As for my favorite genres, I'm still very new to playing indie games as a whole, so don't have too many specific favorites at the moment and just love exploring new stuff in the indie scene, considering I was mostly a big budget triple a games kind of guy for a while. The genre I'm most familiar with here in the indie scene are rogue likes, but I've only played two of them so far: Binding of Isaac Rebirth and Hades. Hades was my GotY last year, absolutely loved that game, put in 100+ hours into it and also around 80 or so into Binding of Isaac.

Open to pretty much anything though, which is why I was curious to what your favorite was of the whole initial list (which you technically didn't answer yet :P haha)

You sound like me about 3 years ago until I discovered Hollow Knight.

I thought indie games were for children. Boy was I wrong!

I hate picking favorites :(

Eh, I never once thought they were for children. I just never bothered to try them. Had no contempt for them at all, I just didn't know where to start. Then I played BoI and Hades and here I am.

Also, I have Hollow Knight on my PS5 installed for Ps plus, havent started it yet tho.
