I can't really think of any horror movies from the past few years that i've enjoyed. It's become too dull and metaphorical - you're right. I enjoyed the collector movies but I think they're from the 2000s maybe

The Conjurings were also coo

Omg, The Invisible Man. Forgot about that one. it fucked me UP. scary as shit.

True but that is considered cream of the crop (although I personally didnt care for it). Another amazing slow-burn horror that came out within the last few years is The VVitch.

However, I tend to agree that normally they dont work out as well. Like The Blackcoats Daughter was terrible.

I have such a weird perspective on The Witch. I saw it with a group of like 5 of us. there were probs ~15 ppl in the theater altogether when we saw it. at the end of the movie, my friend just goes "Fuck you, movie" at the credits and a buncha people laughed, so for a while I assumed everyone thought it was bad

Amongst people I know, it's one of those movies where they either loved it or hate it. I really liked it, personally.
