It makes me uncomfortable because I don't have a lot of the things men used to expect, and now that we're decentered, I can't expect those things to come as easily and might have to settle with never having them and the fact that it's not owed to me at all. So it puts more responsibility on me to be successful, but that's as bad as it gets really

Why should the world be male-centric? As much as I complain about certain things, I think the overall shift toward inclusion is a positive.

Women can be geeks. Women can be action heroes. Women can be respected professionals and not have to be judged by how pretty or fashionable they are or aren't. In that regard, it's a better world than it was 10 to 20 years ago.

Now, I still like my big boobied anime girls and unrepentantly evil female villains. But, on the whole, I like the more level playing field.

For me it has always been unrealistic, I mean just looking at my life I was a lost cause, but all of the interventions put into place failed me because I just didnt care about the future at all. It worked out for dad after all, so why not me? My mom was a hard worker though.

I work for a medium-to-large company and something approaching 70% of our personnel are female. I'm used to being accountable to female line managers and senior staff. But I guess I can see why men who are used to a workplace with a different makeup and culture would not always find that easy to adjust to.

Imo white people as a class have always had more privilege relative to other races than men as a class have had relative to women. Being white still gives them a ridiculous advantage over being any other race in most situations where race is a factor.

As a dude I feel like I'm expected to go through all of the male hasssles regarding bullshit masculinity, lack of emotional support, always being ready for a fight, being shit on for my height/small frame, having to beg like a hound to ever get a date, etc. only to barely get any of the goodies that the men of the past got.

Like the only benefit of being a dude that I really get use out of is having more porn targeted towards me (I'm minimum wage, so the wage gap is irrelevant, I'm awkward and passive so men getting to be more aggressive/studly/etc. is irrelevant, and so on). It's annoying. Like ok reduce my male privilege, whatever's left of it, but don't still give me all the shit that a guy from the 70s had to deal with despite that.

Obviously men were always expected to work. But the chance and level of reward was different. When the job market focused on men to the exclusion of women (which obviously was ridiculous oppression that had to end), it was easier for men to find work. When the main expectation of a man who wanted to marry was that he have a job to support a family, it was easier for men to find a wife. When man's physical power couldn't easily be emulated by machinery, standard blue collar work paid good wages.

Now that men are less "necessary" relative to women and automation, finding a worthile niche in society is more difficult for them than it was for their fathers.

I feel like we have much less conditioned knowledge of women's sexuality as a society because it was repressed for so long, and in certain ways still is. Really an unfortunate situation.

I guess the question I'd ask at that point is whether our current state of affairs is because the male dialectic has exhausted itself, or because it is in competition with female dialectic, or female dialectic replaced it already
