I'd like to say "Naturally, existing owners get a free upgrade to the Enhanced Edition.", but that's not even true anymore. *glares at Control*

Well, Metro Exodus _was_ on sale for Valentine's Day, but that sale is finished. Maybe it'll go on sale again before this free upgrade comes out.

They literally gave us Control Ultimate for free on release on PS5, stop slinging shit for no reason lol. And on PS4 for those who can't get a PS5 right now anyway. And I think base version is on gamepass isn't it? So all they would be missing is the DLC?

"Enhanced graphics" is meaningless if the game is as clunky and glitchy as it is now

Control ultimate runs beautifully, no reason to assume these won't run better as well. Hell cyberpunk was perfectly playable day 1 on modern consoles.

Control has graphic issues and slowdown but generally was designed okay

Exodus ran okay but had fundamental glitches, bugs, clipping and janky gameplay

I didnt care for it and really liked the first 2. it has it moments, but it doesn't benefit from the mini open worlds I think...

personally i thought it was fantastic, its not nearly as linear as the previous titles and theres a lot of ways to approach different encounters. I think its def worth playing especially on next generation where load times are probably more tolerable and less glitchy

Ehhhhhuhueh

It's a mixed bag.

2033 is way better in terms of atmosphere and story. It's the only one that's boarderline a horror game. But it's very linear, the stealth (only added in Redux I think) is shitty and the enviroments are bland and dull (by design. It works for the story and atmosphere)
Last Light is probably the best gameplay wise with stealth options, better enviroments and cool charactes like Pavel. But it lost that atmosphere of 2033. It's also super linear.

Exodus has a terrible and largely nonsensical story, glitchy/buggy/janky gameplay and no atmosphere at all. But on the flipside it's a lot more open. There's more of an exporation focus (at least during certain segments) with a couple of sidequests.

There's some weird stuff too like you can craft at any time and they technically still do the "Gas Mask Filter ticking clock" mechanic but it's so crazily overly generous that it is like Dead Rising 3.

It also has some great touching moments. Just bumming around the train, putting coal into the fire, stroking your wife, having a smoke while people discuss what's on their mind or philosophy is unrionically the best parts of the game and has some really strong writing in it. The characters come across as believable and actual friends to an extent that most video games don't achieve.

So it really depends on what you want from a video game. Exodus pisses all over the plot of the previous 2 games. It's clearly designed 1st and foremost for new players to start with. Weak story/atmosphere and janky unfinished gameplay.

But if you don't care about plot or atmosphere, didn't like the gas mask filter shit, are cool with jank and are fucking sick of corrirdors. It's by far the most open and expansive of the games.

So swings and roundabouts really.

tl;dr:

Plot/Atmosphere - Metro 2033
Gameplay - Last Light
Openness, vareity and easiness - Exodus

Whichever of those things appeals most to you is what game you will prefer

I still have to play these games. The demo of 2033 was really good.
