I think it's because a lot of millenials are now entering into those decision making positions and they just want to bring back the stuff that make them nolstalgic.

It's about the money. A show or channel with an already established fanbase has a higher chance of success than an entirely new idea.

remakes aren't anything new. a lot of the movies and shows we watched growing up were remakes or re-imaginings of older shows...its just that in our time there was a lot less to remake than there is now.

It's about the money. A show or channel with an already established fanbase has a higher chance of success than an entirely new idea. New fanbases don't necessarily follow reboots. It's more about having an established formula with name recognition.
