He is suspected of various crimes, at least one VERY serious (but mods don't like me talking about it) before he got elected. He should still have to own up to those charges

Yes. Impeachment/conviction is a political process without legal bearing. Acquittal by the senate doesn't preclude federal or state charges.

Unless he's been tried for the same things before, it's irrelevant. If you're suspected of crime A and crime B (assuming they're independent crimes), being acquitted on crime B doesn't mean you can't be prosecuted for crime A, regardless of the order they occurred and/or were discovered.

Nope.

Trump wouldn't have gone off to jail had he been convicted, this is a political process. The Senate voting to acquit has no bearing on any federal or state charges.
