I think accusing the US of being a "third world country" isn't right however that doesn't mean there aren't people in the US who have been let down by the country and current experience third world conditions.

I think the main criticism boils down the fact that the US is the richest country in the world and that the discrepancy between the rich and the poor is so large. The richest country in the world should be able to look after their own citizens.

I think you're taking the term hyperliterally

America has serious serious problems with no pragmatic reaso to have any. Whether or not it's "3rd world" is missing the point.
