For the same reason Trump was indicted by, is being tried by, and has a jury serving of people who were directly affected by what he is being charged with.

It's not a criminal trial. It's a political process. Nobody in the Senate, on either side, is impartial; most of the them are going to vote on party lines and a lot of them won't even pay attention to the evidence.
