Ive noticed that whenever I talk to my grandma near bed time (or if I wake her up) shell talk to me in Vietnamese and English...despite her knowing I do not speak Vietnamese.

Sorta having a weird fear of what ifs and thinking what would happen if she had dementia and started losing her English and scaring me a little :/ anyone else experience this?

Shes 100% lucid during the day and doesnt do this

Not uncommon if you have dementia diseaes. Not saying it is that but could be a good idea to get her checked up if it is so your family can get her treatment ans care.

Ive worked in dementia care for 10 years soon.

Dementia can show up more at night first, its called sundowners.

My dad had Alzheimers for years, first signs showed up in his 70s but we assumed he was losing his hearing. It can progress slow or quick. My dad made it to 95, but he didnt know me for his last 5 years.

My grandpa lost his ability to speak for the last year & a half of his life. He would stare vacantly until you approached him. Then, he acted like a kid. If he didnt like you hed turn away and shoo you to begone or something. Well, you got the message he didnt want to see or look at you lol. The thing was grandpa wanted to play. He would lead us outside to watch us on his yard. They said our family had no grandpa favorites but that favorite son was my dad.

My memories of my grandpa have been slowly fading. When i think back in the past, i really didnt interact with my grandpa as much as my other family members and our cousins. I mostly recall grandpa with dementia these days.
