Here's the fun part. They did ask. On February 3rd. I missed the e-mail because I don't use my yahoo account much anymore (and they've turned off auto-forwarding), but this is how I found out about it.

I'm not gonna post the e-mail here, but it was basically "sorry I didn't ask, I hope we can come to an understanding and that you realize how useful your guide can be on Steam". No ill will, really. Just an assumption that I'm cool with a version of my guide that someone else is editing.

I mean they're lucky I'm at work. The reply e-mail I sent was quite professional (if I do say so myself) and basically underlined the idea that if someone else has a copy of my guide that they're editing, then I can't quality control that, especially when I plan to make edits to my guide here.

I'll give them the opportunity to take it down before I hit the Report button.

Zero is the easiest answer.

Yes, Kiwami is a remake of the first game, but it's a remake with additional content that assumes you've played Zero. And not just story content, but game mechanics content as well.
