I only see them in places like Wal-Mart and Target, usually in poor areas. I saw on average 1 per trip, pre Covid

I go shopping at 2-3 grocery stores once a week and haven't seen someone one in years.

Maybe it's more common in the south? But no, they're not actually that widespread.

They were reasonably common at festivals and fairs back when we had those.

Most times the person riding it isn't overweight but physically disabled. Like I've seen more teenage boys with their leg in a cast riding them than some 400 lb. adult in one.

But I see it maybe once every five trips to Walmart. So like 3-4 times a year.

That makes sense. It would be helpful for people with physical disabilities

I work at Sam's Club and I don't think I've ever personally seen someone use the scooters just because they're obese.

It's always the elderly and/or disabled.

I've seen them at grocery stores in Los Angeles, but they mostly go unused. Every now and then you'll have some dumbass teens riding around the store for fun. I would say in the last 10 years, I've seen maybe 3 overweight people using one.

See them in all the stores where I'm from in Georgia.

Though there's a lot of retirees where I'm from so it makes sense. You'll see the occasional obese person, but it's usually older folks.

My mom can't walk far due to a variety of medical issues so she'll opt for one if it's available.

I work at a grocery store. I see them used occasionally. I remember seeing them in use more often at my older job, but that store was also smaller so I guess there was a greater chance of coming across one in use. I even drove them a couple times when the battery was dying and we had to get the customer a new one.
