The Guardian is barely more honest than CNN. In fact it's about as credible as CNN only it takes great steps to appear like a rag for intellectuals by avoiding too much obvious clickbait and woke hashtags.

I kind of hate this news environment all round tbh

Doesn't seem much like criticising US military aid to Israel to me. I can understand why a Newspaper would fire a journalist for making that first claim, even if it's sarcasm. Sarcasm is indeed used a lot on the Twitter, but it's not always obvious and I can't say I think it is obvious in the first post, people reading that from a journalist and thinking it's true is understandable, even if it's not what the journalist wanted.
