Just got it on steam and I played 4 hours so I cant refund.

The game just doesnt feel fun. I feel like i have to use all my brain power to exploit enemy patterns, bow and arrow sniping and cheesing my way through some levels. Thinking about it, this game reminds me of Dark Souls 2 (Only played DS2 and DS3 but dont remember much of 3). But instead i enjoyed DS2, even played it twice with different builds. But this seems like copy of DS but its not really fun but a chore to play through.

Is there like a market that only finds 'difficulty = fun' and nothing else?

Why? is it easiest compared to DS1 and Demon Souls? Is it because i need to git gud?

Ive got around 500~ hours in it. Youre playing it wrong, if youre trying to play it like Dark Souls. NiOh is very fast paced, and hyper aggressive.

The more you play, the more comfortable youll get with stance switching, and Ki pulsing. Eventually, youll have practically infinite stamina because of that, meaning youll be able to play very aggressive toward enemies.

Also, keep in mind that while low stance has a faster dodge, high stance has more iframes. And you should block more than you dodge. Lets you keep the pressure on the enemies.

Start playing it less like Souls, and more like an action game. See if that helps it click.

You get used to the enemy attack patterns. You fight them so much that you'll have them memorized. Even so, you need to fight every enemy somewhat carefully. If you get careless and rush it even an enemy who you have killed 10,000 times will kill you.

I'd say try to stick with it a little more. Try mastering the burst counter, it will help a lot. But if you don't like it you don't like it.

Nioh isn't anything like souls games
Mechanics are the same in some cases but the gameplay is completely different
Nioh is actually very easy since you can just brute force things

Any recommendations to weapons and builds? Im currently using sword and putting a lot of points into heart. Im probably doing something wrong here too.

I'll attempt 3 more levels and see what happens. Hopefully following you guys advices can help me finish the game

No, thats the proper stat allocation for sword. You can see what each weapon scales off of in the pause menu. (Not sure which key is used to do this, on PSN its the start button.)

Dont worry too much about builds. Your first playthrough, youll be finding better gear regularly as you go, replacing it so often that builds will be a massive headache to create. Loot in general seems far more stressful than it actually is. Keep playing until you hit a wall, then take a look at the level that gear is dropping. Upgrade if needed. Repeat.

Once you get into NG+, youll have access to the final item rarity, which is when you should start worrying about an actual build.

I remember I got hit with one of those burst moves by some random mook and it did literally twice my health. Enough damage to kill me twice over from full health, just from some random dude in a cave somewhere. Not a boss or anything out of the ordinary, just one of many. I like difficulty and I'm a fan of some of the boss fights, but it seemed a little ... overtuned.

it has a steep learning curve. A couple things that really impact play style that you just have to experiment with are stances and equipment/armor weight

stances make a massive difference in damage done/taken. You might want to start focusing on low stance which allows more mobility but decreases damage done

i personally stayed with exclusively light armor for my play style. Again, allows for a lot more mobility and better dodges

different weapons also play massively different

you have to spend quite a bit of time trying different builds to see whats right for you

Game is harder early on
Get some points into constitution. About 15 and some more into stamina then heart
just wear whatever increases defense but is at 70% or lower weight

Attack power is mostly from higher level weapons, stats don't give you that much early on
Magic can pretty much crush the game with buffs for new game

Easiest weapon to far used to is hatchets since it has infinite ranged damage but its boring and requires good timing if you want to kill things fast

The burst move from the regular soldiers/bandits is really easy to dodge but yeah it can wreck you if you get hit. That's what I meant earlier about not getting careless and respecting the enemies.

Also yeah definitely pay attention to equipment weight and your agility/toughness. Depending on weight/stamina you'll get a grade like A, B or C (I think). I tended to dodge more so I could not play well with anything below agility A.

Also mastering Ki pulse is essential. Gives you a bunch more stamina

its fairly easy to do but its something you probably overlook when first starting out
