forgot to post my hot takes-

Sekiro is incredibly overrated and the least fun of the big FS action games since DeS

Capcom spent the 360/ps3 generation as a complete second class developer and outside of handhelds the only games they put out worth anything were Dead Rising, Street Fighter IV and Devil May Cry IV

The Genesis has a better library than the SNES outside of jrpgs

Dragonball as a general franchise is a poster child for shitty storytelling and Akira Toriyama should have stuck primarily to comedy

Games shouldn't be judged negatively by their length being short alone, and often shorter games can be better than longer ones in terms of being cohesive stories

Similarly, if a story takes an exorbitantly long time (something like One Piece or Inuyasha), it's probably not worth reading and almost always the quality deprecates over time

How was there not a focus on gameplay? You had the Esper system, you had a decent amount of sidequests, you had unique and fun dungeons like Phoenix Cave, and you had characters with unique abilities. Gameplay was definitely a core focus. The only actual downside was a lack of actual limitations to who could learn what kinds of magic, which ultimately broke the game's difficulty.

The broken magic system is actually one of the main things that makes me like V better. The first part of the game where everyone can do something unique is super fun, but the espers make the game into a bunch of wizard duels. If I wanted that Id play Elder Scrolls or Might and Magic.

I haven't seen Manhunter

IIRC, the actor who plays Stryker in X2 plays Hannibal in Manhunter (a very good, slower-paced, suspense film).
